  • I mean...

For the last 30-50 years, "the dnc is working against us" was valid...

It's just at no point does anyone teach people how our political system works. People know enough to know it's stupid, but if it was possible to change the system from the outside, Bernie would have tried it by now. Or any of the people that keep trying would have succeeded by now.

The only way to beat the system, is thru the system.

Right now we have a level playing field at the party level, that's fucking huge.

And if that lets a progressive to the general and into the oval, they get to name the next DMC chair.

The reason there's such a big push against the DNC, is if progressives grab the reigns, we'll hold them for decades. A constant cycle where progressives keep winning and keep controlling the party, decades (if ever) for Republicans to recover post trump.

We're so fucking close. And as much as people point out the bad parts of history repeating, we're coming up on FDR. And that's the real reason the rich are scared.

  • 4 hours per day and force the narrative to be that Trump is a pedophile and treason-weasel who should be treated as such

We tried that, it's not enough...

Dem voters need something to vote for.

Even the DNC realized this over a year ago man...

They could do almost anything that isn’t another version of sucking his balls.

I mean, this isn't sucking his balls...

So we're cool here now, right?

You see the value in this?

  • There is no chance in hell that this will happen at all

    I know...

I just explained why it still matters...

There is no chance in hell that this will happen at all and meanwhile they’re changing the subject from Epstein and Iran to this

    1. In your mind people can care about more than one issue, but no more than two at once?

    2. As we've both said, Dems don't have the votes. And I think we agree that not all Dems would vote with us if it came to it... So what do you think they can do about the other 2 issues? Wouldn't we want to highlight as many of Republicans failures as possible in case not all voters agree about the other two?

  • What happened to impeaching the shit stain that keeps desecrating the constitution?

A basic understanding of arithmetic and calendars...

Who was saying wed impeach before midterms?

Trying to do that, wouldn't change anyone's mind.

Trying to do this, something most Americans want, forces Republicans and neoliberals to go against it, which hurts them in primaries/mid terms.

If you don't understand why people are doing something, just ask bro.

    That's how we learn.

  • There's a reason people carry rifles to protests...

It's normal carry, it's not brandishing

  • 90 years ago when the sherrif showed up to evict people like this...

The neighbors were already there with shotguns.

If the sherrif didn't turn around, the county was soon having to vote for a new sherrif. And they usually voted for one that wouldnt even leave their office for an eviction call.

If anything ever went to trial out of it, juries were very unlikely to convict.

Sometimes people need to just stop giving any fucks. And we're kind of getting there again...

  • Because as a complete thought it clearly means:

For X to work we'd have to d Y, which has even less chances of happening.

And you picked out "we'd have to do Y" and presented that like it's a plan anyone is proposing and not an example of how impossible it would be...

But I don't think any of that is going to help

  • The DNC chair said we need candidate like Mamdani both in policy and charisma almost immediately after Mamdani won his primary...

And the only reason he waited that long. Is he won't put his finger on the scale of any primary

    https://www.pbs.org/newshour/show/dnc-chair-on-the-path-to-winning-back-voters-and-lessons-democrats-can-learn-from-mamdani

Schumer and other neoliberals don't like Mamdani, but neoliberals lost the DNC and won't hang onto their leadership positions unless they get people to turn their nose up during Dem primaries.

Thats why voting in Dem primaries is more important than ever.

Listening to billionaire owned media about when the DNC is on our side, is like selling gold because you keep seeing "cash for gold" places...

  • Greece would essentially have to wall themselves off from every country that doesn't...

So if an instance was hosted in Greece, and this actually happens...

Yeah, it would effect that instance.

It seems like you just quoted a tiny bit of the sentence so it would seem like a possibility tho...

Critics highlight the technical complexity of the issue and suggest that an EU-wide approach may be more practical to implement. Meanwhile, the EU governments which consider such a measure will also need to address potential freedom of speech concerns – as digital rights campaigners have warned for years.

  • What makes this Mantis impossible to revive?

Same reason CPR works right after someone drowns but not after they've been underwater a week...

You see, every cell has a "powerhouse" that turns stuff, including oxygen, into energy.

They keep a store of oxygen and food in every cell, respiration removes the waste and delivers resources.

Cut off respiration, and things start to shut down. Higher order systems first, and individual cells last.

That's why sometimes CPR works, but it took so long that the brain was deprived of oxygen and suffers damage. Everything was deprived of oxygen, but the most complicated shit needs the most and runs out first.

An insect can be "brought back" after a much longer time than a human without problems, but there's still a clock before each cell runs out of "on hand" resources and die. Whether or not decay happens after is completely separate.

For the absolutely most basic things like virus or bacteria, or even water bears, they've adapted to be able to spring back after a long time, sometimes thousands or tens of thousands of years...

But a mantis is just too complicated. Especially after 30 million years.

  • This is the problem with society today...

Back in my day, we had to poke our own airholes!

  • Yeah...

Insects breathe thru oxygen exchange thru skin.

You cover up all their skin in amber, they suffocate just like when a kid doesn't poke holes in a jar lid.

Because there's no oxygen, the bacteria also dies and no decay happens.

It's the same as a peat bog corpse. There's no life, it's just with the complete absence of life there's no decay. And the amber seals in moisture so there's no dessication either.

    Now on the flips side:

It's not immediate. An old "jail house magic trick" is catch a live fly, put it in a bottle of water, and wait till the mark agrees it's dead. The bet/grift is you can bring it back to life.

And you can, by rolling it in salt for a few seconds, it will get up and fly away.

You have seconds to bring it back, less than a minute

Much, much shorter than 30,000,000 years, that mantis ain't coming back.

  • It was absolutely not trapped alive for 30,000,000 years...

It got stuck in tree sap, and it died, and 30,000,000 years later it's dead body is still in there.

It's also wasn't some instant snapshot of a moment, it most likely got stuck and then slowly covered until it could no longer breathe.

  • The most frustrating accessory ever...

I can't remember how well it worked as a mouse, but "Mario paint" felt the same as any PC paint.

Playing single player using a mouse in one slot and a gamepag in the other hand could have been amazing.

But even just "point and click" or strategy game.

The mouse was great just a giant waste and that's why it was so frustrating

  • Neither one of those is a unified position, and I'd be surprised if there was a sizable population who had strong feelings about both

  • From the link:

Though scientists still debate how the seemingly bizarre phenomenon of entanglement arises, they know it is a real principle that passes test after test. In fact, while Einstein famously described entanglement as "spooky action at a distance," today's quantum scientists say there is nothing spooky about it.

"It may be tempting to think that the particles are somehow communicating with each other across these great distances, but that is not the case," says Thomas Vidick, a professor of computing and mathematical sciences at Caltech. "There can be correlation without communication," and the particles "can be thought of as one object."

    I mean...

The alternative to them communicating but still somehow staying in sync...

Is that they have to be the same particle, that's the alternative.

That the one electron theory isnt just real, it works on subatomic particles sometimes which in this context is orders of magnitude large...

You think that simplifies but it makes it way crazier.

for one participant in the conversation would seem like they were talking very slowly, and the other would seem to be talking very fast.

    The exact opposite...

I don't know how to put it any simpler.

Think of it as writing text on a string of ticker tape. The wider the tape, the bigger text, the faster the tape comes out by inches of length.

To relay the same info on a skinner piece of ticker tap, the text shrinks, and the tape comes out slower by length.

Regardless of the size of the text, or the speed the tape, the information is coming out at the same speed consistent speed.

But like, instead of a ticket tape, think of it as x seconds of speech.

  • Jeffries has zero say what happens in the next congress. Just like Schumer

They've been lame ducks all but two weeks of this session, and they're not above saying dumb shit like this to try and get progressives to tune out of the primaries.

They're doing triage for the neoliberal faction

If you don't like them, vote in your Dem primary for the most progressive options.

  • Though I know in real life that wouldn’t be possible because entanglement still can’t be used to transmit information faster than light.

The entire point of it, is that it can...

    How does that work?

    It's still entangled...

Everything about the two still has to be exactly the same, even adjusted for time dilation.

So if one is experiencing 10x the speed, 1 second of its "input" takes 10 seconds on the slow side to "output". The 1/10th speed replies and 1 second there is "output" as 10 seconds, just like it's relatively spinning 10x the speed as the reference particle.

Again, technically hypothetical because we can't build anything like that yet to actually see if it wouldnhappen. It's just one of those things where it just has to work out like that logically even though we can't see it.

  • Huh?

What manner of communication moves faster than light?

It would have to be some sort of entanglement, And I think the entanglement would also normalize any time dilation. There's not exactly a way to test that yet, it's all hypothetical.

But it should just cancel out and be like you're talking to someone in the same room.

Like, there's no way for the communication (in any form) to go faster than light continuously. If it was two stationary points than wormholes or other stuff could work.

But moving at light speed, it has to be entanglement
