If I'm not actively using my PC for anything it is shut down and turned off from the wall socket. 3 monitors and a pc on the same extension, even when they're not switched on still draw power. I'm in the UK though and electricity isn't cheap.
It takes all of maybe 5-10 seconds from power on to desktop, I've barely gotten comfortable in my chair before it's ready for my login, I can't see any reason whatsoever to leave my PC powered on, ever.
I've seen a lot of these questions recently and no one ever seems to mention Teamspeak, the predecessor to Discord. High quality audio among a bunch of other features, TS6 is where I'm going, since all I need is basic VC rooms and text channels. Discords other "features" should never have picked up like they did in the first place, fuck the companies that use it as a support forum.
For everyone it's different, for myself it started off as "I wonder what that would feel like". Obviously any mentally balanced person would never have that kind of thought occur, but it was curiosity that started it. Then I became more interested in the sensation and it almost started to become addictive.
So yes, I think the want to feel anything at all plays a big part for most people, and a lot do tend to find it addictive too.
Yeah what they mean is that even though the Fediverse is a web of instances, which operate independently, this bean craze still spread just like it would on a single site. Just emphasises the cohesiveness of the Fediverse
