  • tailscale. works perfectly, the only problem is needing a google acc for login

  • awesome machine. the g4 is also the best machine to boot macos 9 (classic macos). keep it if you have the space!

  • go out and meet people, not just for dating but hobbies etc.

  • tbh i kinda hate it

  • yeah, sdf itself is doing fine but sadly their lemmy instance hasn't been well maintained for a while and got completely offline some time ago. though looking at the message on the webpage hopefully they're coming back soon..

i also used to be on @hexagonwin@lemmy.sdf.org but sadly had to move.

  • i only see username@domain.tld on my client but still remember quite a lot of people. I guess like 10 or a bit more.

  • nice comment, but just wanted to add that carrier locks and bootloader locks aren't really related. samsung got rid of the bootloader unlock feature with oneui 8 regardless of the region, so do NOT update the stock OS if you haven't already. even if it runs oneui 8 now, it might be possible to downgrade to oneui 7 depending on the bootloader anti-rollback version number though.

  • i thought it had some stripped down darwin/osx and had NetBSD ported over, but having it as the stock os is really cool.

  • ai slop

  • libreoffice under termux + termux-x11 was the best solution i could find in 2025, actually worked really well. but it could be a bit tedious to use if you're not familiar with *nix stuff.

i think the termux repo didn't ship libreoffice and i had to use proot distro debian, but i may be misremembering.

  • AFAIK there's no way to change it other than modifying the hardcoded keycodes and recompiling the kernel. (please correct me if I'm wrong)

  • such a long shell script, didn't read it carefully but i bet the 'author' doesn't really know what they just wrote.. don't use this.

  • run a barebones environment with a trusted minimal operating system (that's freebsd/netbsd/slackware for me)

  • nice setup. how's the temperature on these machines? i guess you also have the dgpu enabled?

  • bro doesn't even know what posix is

  • idk the technical details much but DoH/DoT doesn't bypass DPI for most websites for me in South Korea. zapret/GoodbyeDPI works.

  • it's the chinese character 正, it's also used for this purpose in korea and i expect china as well.
