Negative. I am a meat popsicle.

  • Never have and never will, outside of it being germane to the conversation.

I was raised vegetarian, so I have literally never chosen to eat meat. In our house, I teach my kids that being vegetarian is the healthiest choice for me and for the planet... I am also always clear that it is a big pain in the ass due to norms and attitudes in our culture. I did not choose to force my diet on my children.

Outside my house, I do talk enthusiastically about both the pros and cons if (and only if) asked about the topic. I literally never bring it up first, as it is usually not productive or relevant.

  • I correctly inferred the synopsis just from the title. Not sure what that says about me.

  • the student transmitted a "General Alarm" (GA) signal, the highest-priority TETRA alert, which automatically instructs trains in the area to switch to manual emergency braking. Four trains were stopped for 48 minutes.

I have to disagree. That sounds pretty disruptive and costly for a lot of people. I would prefer not to reward causing large disruptions in the lives of so many people to no point but for the lulz.

He is currently out on NT$100,000 (3,200 USD) bail and faces up to ten years under Taiwan's Railway Act and Criminal Code, with an unconvincing "had it in my pocket and accidentally pressed the button" defense.

I think that is a fairly reasonable range for sentencing, because of the potential and actual impacts on society. For a first offense, though, I would support a suspended or very short actual sentence.

  • I was curious, so looked this up:

20mm projectile is approximately .787 caliber. Also, 20mm is apparently the entry-level where a weapon in this size moves up from being called a gun to being referred to as a cannon. So there's that.

  • yeap, they make specific pruning blades

  • Ahem.

  • Wouldnt be believable. Zuck is too robotic.

  • I wonder if he considered captioning it "Famous last words" but decided it would be too on-the-nose.

  • It may be an odd phrasing but it is not uncommon at all to talk about something like 18M rows or records

  • It takes a certain kind of silly to make a comic just for a joke this bad. I am here for it.

  • I made chickpea "burgers" last night and it was eerily similar to this. Only major difference is that I add cannellini beans and use vegetarian broth. Then I cook them in the oven because Im lazy.

    Influence by Robert Cialdini

  • You can't tame the white power structure with cheese, Grandpa!

  • Last time I asked for evidence, I got banned from several communities and one instance. According to them, questioning their assertions makes me a zionist and deserving of death. Tankie behavior, for sure.

Much of fediverse is every bit as toxic as reddit ever was, but at least we still have some places of refuge. Thank you for sticking around and insisting on being sane. I continue to report and challenge anyone calling for violence.

  • Clean as you go.

  • I have lived there.

It is simple: South Charleston is/was the part of town South of the river. They are really just one city.

edit: This is just a dozen or so miles from the this week's chemical plant explosion in Institute WV that left two dead and a dozen injured.

annnnd now back to your regularly scheduled circlejerk

  • In the US, it varies quite a bit regionally. I was pretty annoyed when I moved to the South and discovered that very little is open past 11 PM.

I suppose it depends on the right combination of population density and low minimum wage for it to be viable.

  • Much of Lemmy is ideologically against AI, so it is difficult to have rational conversation about the topic here.

Yes, for many enterprises, an "automated security researcher" is likely to be quite useful... and by the same measure, likely to be dangerous in the wrong hands. People attempting to pounce on this as some sort of gotcha mostly havent engaged beyond the headline.

  • Most backdoors pick a lane. AngrySpark built three of them. The DLL, the VM, and the beacon each carry their own encryption, their own API resolution, and their own C2 channel. Compromise one layer and the other two remain opaque.

That architecture is what elevates it from a well-built backdoor to something worth writing up.
