a handful of decades before my body just does that

  • probably turned into jello in there

  • The Lancet suggested around 186,000 deaths, direct and indirect, back in July of this year

In recent conflicts, such indirect deaths range from three to 15 times the number of direct deaths. Applying a conservative estimate of four indirect deaths per one direct death9 to the 37 396 deaths reported, it is not implausible to estimate that up to 186 000 or even more deaths could be attributable to the current conflict in Gaza. Using the 2022 Gaza Strip population estimate of 2 375 259, this would translate to 7·9% of the total population in the Gaza Strip. A report from Feb 7, 2024, at the time when the direct death toll was 28 000, estimated that without a ceasefire there would be between 58 260 deaths (without an epidemic or escalation) and 85 750 deaths (if both occurred) by Aug 6, 2024.10

  • is the hole that big depression in the street visible in the background after the drone turns the corner?

  • Why has the official death toll in Gaza barely changed for months?

  • False flag so China can put boots on the ground for “peacekeeping”? Classic imperialist trick.

China, infamous for its boots-on-the-ground interventions in other countries. Also its 750 military bases in 80 countries.

  • I think goat capitalized Whites to refer to anti-communists, not white people.

Then again, with the stuff he's posted in the past, who knows

  • What the fuck. Is this a thing? Is this a whole strain of crank?

  • Why did America try to overthrow Assad, and why did Russia step in? I’ve heard vague things about Americans guarding oil fields in Syria. Was the operation in Syria mostly motivated by oil or is the picture more complicated?

  • Where? Did I miss something? The article talks about Charles Lindbergh Senior, not his son the aviator, and the word naziism only appears twice in the entire article, neither time in relation to either Lindbergh. Covert Action Magazine is a leftist publication with an emphasis on covering capitalist intelligence operations. Most of their recent articles are about Gaza. They’re not going to be fans of the Lindberghs.

  • It surprises me how many spies seem to be authors or painters. With painting I almost wonder if agencies seek out painters, or even train agents to paint, because painting gives agents an excuse to sit in public and observe a location for a long time. The Israeli agent who blew up Ali Hassan Salameh (along with multiple bystanders) was standing in her window, painting, when Salameh's car drove past the bomb that had been planted in a parked car below. Reportedly she either pushed the button herself, or gave the signal.

  • So deeply sick of avoiding people and losing connections or never forming them.

  • done 👍

  • A reddit thread supposedly debunking the IDF's Oct 7 "mass Hannibal" friendly fire response is now a top google result if you search "oct 7 mass hannibal".

    old. reddit. com/r/IsraelPalestine/ comments/1fcmh39/ there_was_no_mass_hannibal_on_october_7th/

    claims include:

    • (in comments) that Israeli air force colonel Nof Erez, who described Oct 7 as a "mass hannibal," was fired in July 2023 and did not take part in fighting on Oct 7
      • So far I haven't found any evidence for this but I haven't scoured the internet
    • that most Israeli deaths occurred deeper in Israeli territory, while most Hannibal deaths are implied to have been on the border
      • They have a map of the supposed locations of deaths. The github does not give a paper trail for the data, as far as I can tell
      • I'm also not convinced that the "mass Hannibal" account emphatically puts deaths elsewhere

there are other claims but I'll post this edit now, I'm still reading

  • Is there any evidence that the pagers mostly belonged to Hezbollah?

  • a tornado at night is functionally invisible, especially if it’s rain-wrapped and there are no arcs from breaking power lines. At best you can glimpse it in brief flashes when lightning silhouettes the funnel, like something out of a horror movie.

  • Sometimes I think about new life refilling the earth millions of years from now, like the dinosaurs after the Permian extinction. It sucks to witness a mass extinction but in the long timeline it’s only an instant. Just happens to be an instant my entire life fits inside of

  • I recently learned a really weird piece of evidence geologists apparently look at: heavy oxygen trapped in rocks. Turns out water with oxygen18 is slower to evaporate than water with the lighter oxygen16, which apparently means that rocks absorb oxygen18 water more readily than oxygen16 water, and therefore landmasses tend to accumulate oxygen18 leaving less in the seas... which means, when geologists find really old sea floor rocks full of oxygen18, it suggests that there was a lot more oxygen18 in the seas back then, which suggests that there was very little dry land to absorb oxygen18, meaning ancient earth might have been a water world, which is what we see in the start of the video.

*which also has obvious implications for the origins of life, as the article mentions—none of Darwin's "warm little ponds"
