  • I know.

I did consider that a while after I clicked reply.

Then the Mrs wanted me to go a buy her some new pyjama bottoms, because its getting colder at night, and I forgot to change it.

I'm such a knob head sometimes.

  • More fool them for using social media in the first place.

They are not places of free speech. They are places of selective free speech.

Haven't we known for years that companies monitor the social media pages of members of staff and to evaluate potential future employees.

There is a fascist, power hungry, passive aggressive manager in every company. Waiting to project his anger onto a member of staff and punish them.

Its a power trip thing. The power to sack you for anything they like.

The trick is not to give anyone that power.

leave all social media. it makes sense.

  • When my kids were in their teens they had windows machines.

They had windows machines, because all their friends had windows machines.

you know what kids are like, click on every thing. oblivious to danger.

malware, viruses, the lot. of course, good old idiot dad had to sort it out. spending hours running anti-virus programs and malwarebytes etc

I got really annoyed one day and while they were at school. I totally removed windows and installed linux mint xfce on both their machines.

Set everything up for them exactly how I used my linux machine.

Once they were online, had their web browser open, found they could login in to all the things they liked and still enage with their friends.

I never heard a peep from them. no more anti-virus scans or malware.

    It was heaven.

Ive used Linux for 20 years and never had a virus.

  • I tried zen but it was annoying me.

It changed my settings every time it updated, so I abandoned that.

went back to trusty old Librewolf.

Librewolf has vertical tabs and looks identical to me.

    about:preferences

    BROWSER LAYOUT

    Horizontal tabs
    Display at top of browser

    Vertical tabs
Display on the side, in the sidebar

    Show sidebar
Quickly access bookmarks, tabs from your phone, AI chatbots, and more without leaving your main view.

Isnt that the same as floorp and zen browser.

  • An unlocked phone has nothing to do with an unlocked bootloader.

An unlocked phone is a phone, on which you can change the carrier, by installing any sim card of any other carrier of your choice.

Phones that have been on a monthly contarct are generally locked because the carrier locks you into their network and wants your money. However, at the end of the contract, some carriers will unlock the phone for you so you can sell it. or change to another carrier, without it being locked.

sim free phones are unlocked so you can install any sim card of choice.

You can still unlock the bootloader of a locked phone but it will still be locked to the carrier.

buying an unlocked phone is the way to go.

you can check the phone when you buy it. just put your current sim card into the phone to see if it connects to your network, and you can call and make text messages.

  • Dont beat yourself up over it

    These things happen.

Maybe you was having a shit day.

we all have different ways to express our humour. I'm particularly shit at it to be honest.

I struggle too, half the time I cant tell the difference between real and ai.

Imagine being 69 years old and being called a script kiddie. Now that is something.

I think Ill get my flares and platform shoes and tie dye T-shirt out and start playing some led zeppelin and bob dylan over the weekend.

    enjoy your weekend

  • hey sqw

I have the bread baker’s apprentice, Im going to check the recipe out

    Thank you for that

  • That is a fabulous looking loaf

I have never made a challah.

    pretty loose you say.

baking is supposed to be fun, I get my grandkids to make my dough sometimes and you want to see the mess they get in, but, surprisingly the final loaf still looks great.

jealous you have a kitchenaid, I dream of those. I have a very old 1970's kenwood chef 901, it sounds like the concord taking off.

Re-the image embeds, there is a little icon that looks like an envelope, if you hover you mouse over it, it says; upload image.

the images needs to be really small. if you use linux you can use mogrify which of part of the ImageMagick package. ImageMagick also has the montage package to join the images together into a montage,

this reduces the images by 50%

mogrify -resize 50% -quality 80 *.jpg

this joins 4 jpg images into a montage

    montage 1.jpg 2.jpg 3.jpg 4.jpg -geometry +2+2 1-montage.jpg

  • My dear sewer rat

I am shocked that you failed to understand the humour in what I wrote

What you have written in reply is meaninglesss to me.

I do not understand what you are trying to say.

I do not to respond directly to the questions people ask me, if I consider them intentionally confrontational. like calling me a smug know-it-all to a smug script kiddie asshole.

that is awfully rude and judgemental when you dont know me

I will not reply to people, who, selectively pick one sentence, or a selection of my words, that do not conform to, or meet, their personal agenda, and who's sole purpose is to create a passive aggresive fruitless argument.

Especially when they have not read and attempted to understand what I have tried to explain or expand upon.

Unless of course, you are willing to pay me £200 for every 50 minutes of therapeutic work we do together. You will then get my full attention, congruence, love, and undiminished empathy. Maybe we could dismantle your defence mechanisms, and point you towards a more productive way of life.

You could then be a useful and fully functioning member of the human race, and stop acting like a sewer rat consumed by anger, toxic shame and hate.

Until then. I shall look forward to reading with interest your next privacy post.

  • I want to see an episode of Dexter. With him monitoring an app that tells him if the body parts he has stored in the freezer, to dispose of later, is defrosting and starting to stink.

  • LOL!

    They are sold out man.

still doesn't beat my smart arse toilet.

  • Hey flatbield

Its the poor non techies that I feel for.

Buying stuff for convenience, being totally unaware of the data collection, lack of decent security and eventual enshitifictaion of the product range.

    Thank you

  • Kokodayo, motherfuckers LOL

  • Hey Libb

all you write sounds like my home.

There are humans who live here.

Real books are the key to a wonderful life, Its the smell that gets me, they are especially easy on my eyes as I have gotten older.

I have a small library of my favourite books. I have just started to re-read, Écrits by Jacques Lacan, its a bit of a tome.

By the way. I do not own a TV, I have not watched any TV since around 2000,

    I think thats called autonomy

    Thank you

    fucking obscene

  • hey furry toaster

    Its very frustrating.

People are very odd when it comes to privacy and tech in general.

I have convinced half my friends to move from text messaging to signal and encrypted email but the other half totally refuse. Some have even changed to SimpleX chat and others to conversations.

I have explained to them how, just having my phone number in their contacts list, is hoovered up by all the other apps on their phones.

I tell them I use opencontacts because I respect their privacy, and that I do not share their phone numbers with any apps, so they should respect my privacy too. which they dont.

    https://f-droid.org/en/packages/opencontacts.open.com.opencontacts/

I put my foot down and say that I refuse to contact them or reply to any message they send, unless it is encrypted.

I also tell them to delete my number from their phones because I will not reply to them if they use my phone number.

they still cling on to gmail and the old text messages and dont bother messaging me at all.

    very odd people.

  • Chat control will not protect our children.

    I am a retired psychotherapist.

99% of all child sexual abuse clients I worked with, over 20 years, had been abused by a family member. Grandfather, Father, Mother, brother, uncle, yes it is mainly men but women sexually abuse children too.

The UK's, CRB and DBS check do not protect out children. It prevents people with a criminal record from working with children and vulnerable adults.

No criminal record and you are free to abuse.

No CRB or DBS checks for parents and other family members, so the abuse continues.

Here in the UK it has only been illegal/unlawful to have sex with your daughter since 1921 when the law was changed. Prior to this date it was quite normal and legal to have sex with your daughter.

Isnt that sickening to think that it was even legal at some stage in our history.

104 years later we are still dealing with the generational sexual abuse trauma that destroys families and children.

In the UK, children make up only 20% of the population, but are the victims in 40% of all sexual offences.

The predator, kidnapping our children from the street is a very very rare occurence. Thats why the media, BBC and all the others, love regurgitating the Moors murderers, Ian Brady and Myra Hindley, because it is so rare.

When you have members of parliament and members of the house of lords, who have huge multi million pound shareholdings in big tech companies, they are not going to risk their personal profits by voting against anything that would bring big tech into disrepute.

This applies to European, australian and USA parliaments too.

have a look at REGISTER OF LORDS’ INTERESTS.

    https://www.parliament.uk/globalassets/documents/publications-records/house-of-lords-publications/records-activities-and-membership/register-of-lords-interests/register210125.pdf

It is a list of all our lords; No one voted for them!

DIRECTORSHIPS REMUNERATED EMPLOYMENT, OFFICE, PROFESSION ETC, PERSON WITH SIGNIFICANT CONTROL OF A COMPANY SHAREHOLDINGS LAND AND PROPERTY NON-FINANCIAL INTERESTS

    It is obscene!

Just one lord has all these shareholdings.

He has multiple shareholdings in; Meta, google, Alphabet, Amazon, microsoft, apple, Adobe, Netflix, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company Limited, Visa, Berkshire Hathaway, to name just a few,

Its not that he is rich that bothers me, its the fact that he will not vote against his personal interests, namely, his profits

He is not going to act on our behalf ever!

  • Wow!

I was hoping that one day I could install edge on my arch distro and have the bestest ever, private and secure browser in the whole world.

But then I woke up from my dream. I told my psychoanalyst about my dream, and she said I was suffering from delusions and my dream was a narcissistic fantasy. Oh well.
