  • You can do it. That's my point. Yes it takes time. Yes it takes patience. Yes it takes practice. Your brain is an incredible machine capable of so many things, much more by far than a computer. Computers are chunks of silicon. They do basic addition. They just do it so much quicker is all. Yours is superior. Keep it exercised.

    I do keep a cheat sheet of clues. Things that I write to remind me of the actual phrase, but I rarely need it. Make a point to memorize 10 a week. Custom photo screensavers (I use jpeg Saver 5.3 by Goat 1000) are great for flash cards. I find writing it out to be the best way to learn, but reading is my second, and listening is third (but rather poor considering I lose focus and miss bits). Try to learn how you learn best and exploit that. I used to have an old braintest that was incredibly accurate. It would tell you whether you were more inclined for audio or visual learning. It also defined your brains inclination to be left hemispheric or right hemispheric in its dominance. It was called brainworks. I think it ran on windows 95. For sure Windows 98SE.

    Honestly, a lot of the ones I ended up needing to lookup or reset were the ones that are restricted with a maximum length and I cant use an entire phrase. That just jambs up my plumbing, if you know what I mean.

    Ingrediants: Water, high fructose corn syrup, sugar, lemon juice concentrate, orange juice concentrate, citric acid, fine pulp, natural flavors, gum acacia (flavor agent), potassium sorbate and sodium benzoate as preservatives.

    It's not that it's actually an unconsumable beverage, but if you take lemonade and pour in one of those orange flavored hugs (for kids lunchboxes), that's about what it tastes like. Not a good taste when you were actually expecting (and hoping) for strawberry lemonade.

    I've usually killed a half gallon by this time of the day. I've only gotten halfway, and honestly, I think ima go grab me a soda to get this taste out of my mouth.

  • Where did you find the append option? I could not find it anywhere, and drag and drop just closed the currently open file and opened the dropped one. Opening multiple files only resulted in one file getting loaded (usually the first one selected in explorer).

    I remember not being able to split a track either.

  • It is with great sadness that I must report that the software can only open one .gpx file at a time. Therefore, merging multiple .gpx files seems to be an impossibility.

  • Oh i'm not. I have a dream machine that's currently a paperweight. I'm in need of a hard drive at the moment and getting by on a spare laptop.

    I'll occasionally buy an old system from someone, pilfer parts. Not new, but most of the time lightly used. I'll even usually wipe the drive and it's partition right in front of them so they know.

  • I honestly think it's because they make it so small. It's an unnecessary requirement. I'm considering going back to sata. My near 20-year-old and long-since-retired Western Digital Raptors would probably still boot if I pulled them out and plugged them in. They did 5 years ago when I did it to reclaim a few old files. They sounded like a frozen turkey rolling down wooden steps, but they worked.

    What's crazy is that in this day and age, it is near impossible to find anything designed for longevity. Despite it being very possible, it's bad business and not among the options. Things are created only if they have an achilles heel that causes non-permanence and necessitates repeat business.

    I say this as I copy files over to my near 20 year old PNY XLR-8 flash drive (my old daily driver). Those things were built with love. It has lasted and outperforms a lot of the new ones I own for both read and write speeds and also for it's ability to protect itself from outdoor elements. I've been using it up in the woods in my radio for the last 2 years after the (2) newer 1T drives I was using both died pretty quick deaths. Half a year at best. I think heat from sunlight kills them.
