  • For a moment I read the title as traffic. And had to re-read on the webpage to confirm why the title wrote no traffic.

Anyway, the new secret setting to enable the new compose toolebar is cool. I 1st saw it on another of my phones which got the new toolbar as part of firefox study.

  • Or ever.

  • TL;DR

    • Leaked builds show Samsung’s next One UI 8.5 update, debuting with the Galaxy S26, will be based on Android 16’s second quarterly release (QPR2).
    • This is significant because most device makers skip quarterly Android updates, delaying new features until the next major annual version is released.
    • By adopting QPR2, Samsung can bring new Android platform features to Galaxy devices much faster than before, matching Google’s own release cadence.
  • Not crashing on my phone running android 15. Just that I don't get the gif saved for some reasons.

    Voyager version: 2.40.0

  • You can instead use apps which block trackers. I can recommend 3.

Netguard with tracker filters enabled, PersonalDNS filter – a fire and forget DNS filter app, or Adguard android app from Adguard website.

The 1st one needs payment to access some pro features but can also block internet connection to all your apps.

The 2nd one is a simple DNS blocker which can have millions of rules and won't choke under the load.

The last one is not Foss or available on fdroid like the 1st two are, but is much more powerful than the 1st two combined.

Pick your tools and limit information now.

  • Yeah, this is most infuriating thing about this. Other countries could compel any apps they deem bad and ask for identification.

  • SMS is mostly used for 2-factor authentication, transaction status. Most people use Whatsapp, telegram or whatever messaging app is popular.

What E2EE app do you use?

  • In today's digital age its not doable. You need a smartphone if you work, get medical assistance, access social media, do online payments.

Now, if you mentioned using an alternative OS like Linux we can agree.

  • You do need to submit an ID if your app gets a larger audience. Plus, the account requirement stays. With the way google bans developer accounts I wouldn't be surprised if your hobby developer gets an axe once a while.

It's not hard to imagine them abusing/being compelled to limit apps based on regional restrictions or perhaps other apps terms of service. Like newpipe could be nuked out of nowhere assuming it even gets a say since it breaks YouTube's Terms of service.

Or manga, book reading apps getting the axe due to copyright strike. Plus, the devs could get doxxed again due to copyright strike.

No sane developer should risk submitting this personal information to google for a side or hobby or even a community project.

  • After all that outcry. They only wrote about devs demanding longer. Conveniently ignoring fdroid's post among others.

Even for hobby projects you would be required to create a limited developer account and submit government identification if you want to distribute apps to a larger audience.

  • Maybe, being doxxed is the bigger issue here. Perhaps, take a read in OPSEC and learn how digital fingerprinting and doxxing work.

  • Its not cowardice to avoid sharing Personal Information on the internet. There's a real possibility to be doxxed just by sharing which place you worked at, and were fired for what reason. Not everyone is comfortable doing that.

  • It does exist. But, last post appears to be 2yrs old.

  • It's not visible on my end. The only other post is 3days before. I did check before submitting this post

  • The easiest way would be install logfox and Shizuku and see what the crash log says in logfox.

  • 1st time it has been posted in this community.

  • Well, they started the same with android. Nothing stops them from doing that for improved security and availability

  • I guess. Also, restrictions on downloading 3rd party apps.

  • TL;DR

    • Google Maps has updated its public transit navigation to allow full map access during trips
    • Users can now search, browse, and reroute without cancelling or restarting their current journey.
    • Plus, new walking directions feature includes pedestrian incident reporting like crashes or slowdowns.
