  • Hopefully, by the time it gets an fdroid release it will be slightly stable.

Interestingly, he says no vivo phones supported.

  • Every generation of pixel A series is mixed in controversy. The regular pixels don't have good battery life and charge slowly. After 200 charge cycles they further reduce the battery capacity and charge speed until 1000 charge cycles.

Avoid pixel if you care about battery longetivity.

  • AGPS uses data not just from towers but also from bluetooth and wifi Access points around you. You can turn this off. If you wanted to there are settings to do. It was GPS, AGPS in older phones. Now, its scanning for wifi, bluetooth which uses google server. Also "Improve the location accuracy" toggle which uses signal towers.

If network based location triangulation was so accurate. Why would the telecom providers lobby to have this always on without user consent. Not to mention the potential indicator of location tracking being actively being used with an indicator.

  • That app being installed was just a test. They actually want phones to have always on A-GPS for location tracking.

Also, they want the pop-up which notifies about GPS usage to be off. So, you don't know that you are being tracked.

Don't know what's up and why everyone wants to track everyone and all. Maybe, testing 1989? But, a reminder any device which is not foss is not owned by you and can change things in the future for worse.

  • You cannot do that. Use the apps which you do use regularly. Hopefully, they make it to the 1st page.

  • It seems the function is not implemented. It has an active bounty of certain amount, and if someone does implement can claim it too.

Maybe, it will be implemented in 2026.

  • Any particular reason NFC payment apps don't work? Atleast some should work with MicroG.

  • You could buy an E-sim converter and use that instead. If you really wanted to buy this phone.

  • Should be an 8000 series dimensity processor. Anything lower and it would not be much powerful.

  • Personally, I'm more effed by the borders and the squigly icon shapes of your launcher.

But, you can use a 3rd party icon pack like Material You or Material You dark/light icon pack. Or maybe use Icon Pack Studio to create a custom icon pack for your phone.

  • Planned obsolescence. Many devices wouldn't get an update. Plus, the bootloader being locked and no root meaning you can't do anything.

Always buy a phone which will receive updates for a long period of time and/or is unlockable.

Options like Fairphone, Pixel, Oneplus. Samsung provides 7 Yrs of features and security updates but cannot be unlocked.

  • Use signal or other private, encrypted apps folks. Also, get others to use them so they benefit too.

  • I use tasks.org for task management and completing tasks. Maybe, that can work for you?

  • Like others said yeah. Could be any link or image.

If you are concerned use a DNS filter app.

On android I can recommend the PersonalDNSFilter app available on fdroid and play store

  • I won't accept an MDM device for personal use. I was just replying about signal being compromised with regular MDM in work profile on a non-rooted phone.

Everything would still be monitored. But, messages in signal should not be.

  • I was talking about signal. Did you miss that?

  • What makes you think they would allow such a thing to exist? The french government was apparently after GrapheneOS for its extreme security and privacy.

The EU is after chat software with its chat control bill. Governments only care about power. Once they have it, it will be abused.

  • The app is limited for TV which limits the reach. Plus, I do not download apps outside of fdroid for the most part.

  • It does not use proprietary typing data. So, it can be slightly worse.

But, you can always contribute some data here: https://swipe.futo.org/
