  • I solemnly swear that even in 26.3.1 it is not reading my keypresses properly.

I used to type like a fiend but for several years the typing experience is degraded. Is is multitouch somehow trying to read something between my two thumbs?

Also that period key that appears when I'm in the URL bar but typing a search with spaces that are all suddenly dots and it thinks it's a malformed URL? OMG move it or kill it with fire.

  • The client is open source, so it doesn't matter what the server code is, you can see everything the client sends and therefore tell what possible data is being collected.

It's run by a non-profit so there's no shareholders to please.

Your messages and decryption key are not stored on their servers.

    It's been independently audited.

They have publicly posted responses to user information requests where they only provide the account creation date and last access time.

The (admittedly incompetent) US government recommends using Signal (for non-classified information) and top officials have been caught using it (Houthi Working Group).

You can never be 100% sure, but it appears to have excellent security and privacy.

  • I just leave the bowl empty of water, then flush with a separate bucket I fill from the bathtub tap.

Sure, the bowl is covered in shit stains, but at least I don't have to experience Poseidon's Kiss.

  • pretty sure youtube is going to win that lil bluff.

  • In metric, one milliliter of water occupies one cubic centimeter, weighs one gram, and requires one calorie of energy to heat up by one degree centigrade - which is 1 percent of the difference between its freezing point and its boiling point. An amount of hydrogen weighing the same amount has exactly one mole of atoms in it. Whereas in the American system, the answer to ‘How much energy does it take to boil a room-temperature gallon of water?’ is ‘Go fuck yourself,’ because you can’t directly relate any of those quantities.

  • this is the output of FYLD.com blockchain

    https://www.fyld.com/

If you CC them on an email, it somehow gets timestamped and added to their blockchain to prove you sent that email with that content at that time.

You ARE giving them a complete copy of the email, so yeah that's scary and sketchy as fuck, so probably don't do that.

  • The numbers seem to correlate to the hex color of the backgrounds of the middle numbers. Perhaps a pallet generator of some kind?

  • Came here to say this, also "hello, fellow Technology Connections watcher!"

  • they don't work because you can just uninstall them or turn them off. Unless you give someone else admin access, you're able to remove the block.

    or pick up your phone.

    or use a different computer.

or visit the web address instead of using the app.

Set a timer and stick with it.

  • Other niche HTTP codes:

420: Enhance Your Calm (used by twitter to rate limit clients, reference to cannabis culture)

451: Unavailable due to legal reasons (now an official code! reference to Ray Bradbury's Fahrenheit 451 in which books are illegal)

  • Until they leak in the rain. If my feet get wet walking across wet pavement, either through the sole, because the sole and upper are separating or a hole in the side, I retire them.
