  • Valve also needed to break its dependency on Windows, in case MS decides to go down the walled garden route like Apple. MS making the windows store the only supported way to install apps and games would be devastating for Valve.

  • Vapes don't produce smoke but vapor, i.e. nothing "burns". And inhaling smoke is by far the most harmful aspect of using cigarettes.

    Not saying nicotine or vaping is harmless, but I'd be very surprised if vaping turns out to be as dangerous as smoking.

  • Maybe at first, yeah. But in 50 years, when almost nobody under 60 smokes and it's prohibited everywhere, who would go out of their way to start this particular habit?

    As a lifelong smoker, one of the hardest hurdle to quitting is going out, having a couple of drinks, then seeing other people smoke and resisting the urge to go buy an easily available pack.

  • Maintenant qu'il a rectifié le tir son utilisation de l'IA me semble raisonnable.

  • They tried, the offer was rejected, so they came up with this alternative. Wikipedia has all the info if you want to know more.

  • Good question. From what I gather from infowar's wikipedia article I guess it will be paid to infowar's parent company which owns the IP. Before The Onion showed interest in acquiring infowars, the company was supposed to be liquidated with most of the proceeds going to the Sandy Hook families.

  • The New York times article actually says $81,000:

    On Monday, Mr. Milligan asked Maya Guerra Gamble, a judge in Texas’ Travis County District Court overseeing the disposition of Infowars, to approve that licensing agreement in a court filing. Under the terms, The Onion’s parent company, Global Tetrahedron, would pay $81,000 a month to license Infowars.com and its associated intellectual property — such as its name — for an initial six months, with an option to renew for another six months.

  • There's the child-raping, and then there's the whole barreling towards a cyberpunk hellhole that Trump and the heritage foundation are engineering. This doesn't seem like a difficult choice to make, I honestly can't understand these people.

  • I mean, Jesus was like the OG escape artist

  • StarCraft 1 and AoE 1 shouldn't require internet, I bought them close to release day and I didn't have the internet back then.

  • "se planter" is yet another meaning of the word, it's slang for "make a mistake" or "have an accident" (usually involving a vehicle). E.g.:

    Je me suis planté à mon examen de maths

    Je me suis planté en moto

  • The fact Iran even entertained him this long is the only reason he has power at all.

    That, and the colossal firepower of the US military.

  • You should, it's fun to use and runs on pretty much every platform.

  • Java has changed a lot since Java 8. Here's a 3-line HelloWorld.java compatible with Java 21+:

     java

    void main() {
        System.out.println("Hello, World!");
    }

  • Surveille tes prélèvements quand même, pas besoin d'autorisation du prélevé pour mettre en place un prélèvement SEPA donc les contrôles sont au bon vouloir de ta banque.

  • Mine has just started shutting down seconds after launching some games... Running memtest86 right now, I sure hope my RAM is OK...

  • Yeah I think it's like "this guy that we suspect of being a drug dealer uses grapheneOS, which proves that he's a drug dealer".

  • Sure, but 99% of MSO/LibreOffice users would quit after about 45s of trying to put together a document in LaTeX.
