Press any key to continue... No, not that one!

  • that's gonna be a very very expensive phone

  • yes... lol people on HackerNews tend to do this a lot and it really does get annoying. it forces the reader to process what you're trying to say unnecessarily.

  • yup and when you DO catch it spitting out nonsense. it"ll say "oh you right, let me change that".. 🙄 like, why do I have to tell you that you're wrong about something? You should already know it's wrong and fix it without me ever pointing it out.

  • sounds like you just need an RSS reader

  • It really irks me when people change the titles of the articles they link to to try to fit their narrative. Because sadly people dont really click through to the article. Just share the real title and give your commentary on the comments.

  • What if I told you you were debating with a 14 year old who's using AI to sound cool?

  • I think the person you replied to is just assuming it's off by default. But if there's a kill switch, that implies that it's on. And if not, there wouldn't be any need for a kill switch.

  • I’ve seen some people claim that free speech doesn’t apply on servers like reddit because they are privately owned. So Constitutional rights don’t extend to private property?

Not when you don't have a right to be on said property. If you come in my house using language I don't approve of, I will ask u to leave and you will :)

I would refute most of the other arguments you made, but full of logical fallacies. Would take too long. Genuinely curious though: how old are you?

  • Is this really new just because AI is here, though? Even before AI, any kid that was an over-achiever, actually studied unlike their peers, continues to work harder to achieve greater things (even when the masses don't) experiences this exact same path all their life.

  • Nice feature. Out of curiosity, by "score" do you mean upvotes or the net ratio of upvotes and downvotes?

  • I follow Lemmy RSS feeds from openrss because it localizes all of the feed links to my own instance regardless of the instance the RSS feed content is on. Wish Lemmy's feeds this by default.

You can read more about them at this link: https://openrss.org/feeds/lemmy

  • Is this any different from how one starts to look as they grow older in age?

  • Some bots I like. I don't want to turn off all bots just because some of them want to spam all the instances. Plus, I use Lemmy's RSS feeds sometimes in an RSS reader which isn't logged in, so that setting wouldn't work for that use case anyway.

  • Anybody else hungry?

  • Yeah, will never understand why these big billionaires keep taking these "we are for the people" stances, but are still trying to spin up these same ol for-profit, centralized products. If they really cared, they'd use that money to help nonprofits or decentralized services and stay out of the damn way.
