  • If you want more than gaming (like YouTube), wouldn't it make more sense to get a wireless keyboard with an integrated touchpad

I have one, albeit kind of a crappy one that takes forever to turn on after it goes to sleep.

Right now I have an 8bitdo controller, a Micom mini trackball (which also kind of stinks, because the ball is so light that it jumps around a lot), and a wireless keyboard. Ideally the Steam Controller would allow me to replace all 3 at the same time, especially when gaming is what my Bazzite HTPC "console" is used for the most.

  • Yeah. I've been trying not to worry to much about social issues that are far behind my control. Too much of that is just anxiety-inducing for me.

The main function of a democratic republic is to elect leaders who are supposed to worry about solving problems so that we, as individuals, dont have to and can instead focus on doing other things.

The sad truth is that we all have so little faith in the people who are in charge that we take it upon ourselves to try to figure out the answers to society's privilege, but for what? Even if we think we have the answer, we don't exactly have the means to enact it when we aren't anywhere near the levers of power.

If we really want to make policy, we have to get more politically involved and maybe even run for office. Everything short of that is just venting or an intellectual exercise.

  • Made sense to the LLM!

  • Bazzite. Treat it like a game console.

However, generally speaking, 11 year olds should be made to learn new things in my opinion.

  • As long as they don't start filling blender with AI shit, I guess I don't care too much.

  • The roundtable hold seems relatively cozy.

  • Talk to your coworkers and freak them out about it to get more people on your side.

  • $100 is steep. I've been exited to use this controller for my Bazzite system, and I was mentally prepared to pay ~$75 for it, but I really wasn't expecting it to be as expensive as it is.

With that said, I'll probably still be buying one. Because while there are other good (and cheaper) controllers out there, this is the only one with dual trackpads and that's been designed for HTPC control.

  • Yo theyre monks, let them take a Buddha break wtf.

  • Good luck with that.

  • What?

Layoffs are never about productivity. If AI was making workers more productive (it is not, in fact) you would simply enjoy the increase output of your existing workforce or maybe even hire more people for even more potential growth.

No no. This is about money. They are laying people off because they are trying to make the balance sheet look better next quarter.

  • I'm just sitting here praying for the best. 🙏

  • Oh for sure. I liked the original Steam Controller for what it was and I'm excited for the new one to give me a Deck-like experience on my Bazzite PC. I'm confident this will be a good controller.

I just think it's kind of a big swing going from the $5 bargain bin device to the $100 follow up. I wonder how many people are going to think they can wait for this one to go into clearance?

  • Wild how the previous Steam Controller was such a flop that Valve had to clear their inventory by selling them all for $5 each, and now the new Steam Controller is going to be $100 out the gate.

I've been really looking forward to this, especially as a Bazzite HTPC Steam Box controller, but that feels shockingly steep to me.

  • Recalibrate your thought process.

Life isn't a game even if too many people treat it as such. There are no winners or losers. Broad ideas of "success" and "failure" are social constructs, almost always tied to artificial things like money and status. You don't have to care about these things at all. You can simply unsubscribe from that ideology. All we need to do is live, and all we should want is to thrive.

When it comes to failing to meet personal goals, it's better to think of your progress and establish milestones.

Imagine a person learning to skateboard with a goal of doing a kickflip, how many times do you think that they will need to fail at the trick before successfully landing it the first time? Even after they land it once, what will their success ratio be for that trick over the next 6 months? Anyone who has tried skateboarding knows that it's hard, and that you have to be mentally and physically prepared to fall and maybe get hurt, because "failure" is just part of the learning process.

  • Yeah, we can tell...

  • It probably will, for some people, at least until Valve releases an ARM-powered Deck running full SteamOS.

I think Android is the weak link here. Who wants to use an increasingly locked down operating system?

  • You tell me you didn't cry when you saw what had become of King Vendrick!!!

  • They control all 3 branches of the federal government, so I warmly welcome them to pass a law or ruling that makes partisan gerrymandering illegal.

If fighting fire with fire is what's needed to make them feel like it's a problem, then so be it.

  • Sorry. North American pancakes.
