  • Who you gonna call?

  • Even if no trackers (which there are) Lemmy is federated so you cannot just delete your stuff and sleep over it. However if you need to be careful, you can solely use Lemmy over Tor. It's not private but can be anonymous.

I think I recently read that Lemmy devs are working on private upvotes / downvotes (yes even they can be tracked) but it seems it's tricky with federation.

So, generally Fediverse is not private and cannot be private due to its nature. If you have a threat model, you should use it with Tor.

  • That's nice to hear. Congrats!

  • I have a similar setup with LineageOS. I use KeePassXC on PC (KeePassDX on Android). I can sync them via Nextcloud with peace in mind because the database is already encrypted. Syncthing-fork also works if you want completely local.

I'm sure e/OS already has a password vault app in their list but if not KeePassXC is fully local out of the box and can be used with DX on Android.

It's far secure than Firefox's built-in password manager.

  • You can use local ones like KeePassXC.

  • Don't know the architecture of 3DS but I remember someone put Debian on a Kindle, so that's universal enough to me. :)

  • That I agree. I'm eyeing for AMD cards for some time too, especially after Nvidia stopped updating drivers for 10xx series. However if I sell 1080, it can barely cover something similar from AMD, so I'll wait longer it seems since I want this to be an actual upgrade.

  • You might not remember ATI atrocity.

  • Don't wait until they'll need to verify to delete your account.

  • I saw someone painted their thumb with basic facial lineament and they move their thumb when the prompt asks for it. It guesses that as 13-15 years old, even though the paint has a beard. lol

  • You can install Wine as flatpak. That should solve some of the issue.

  • It's never easy but believe me it's rewarding. Planning to switching to a self-hosted solution even more so (though it's harder). However, starting it is the halfway through. I just wish your community members as understanding as you.

    Good luck!
