  • Humans are all biological but there is an important distinction between sex and gender that i refuse to conflate, as that would be pseudoscientific. Both contribute to what is considered male/female, but one is biological/sexual, and the other is social/cultural. and yes, transwomen can be considered biological woman as well, although this cannot be an exact term, just like gender isnt. So you will never be able to say a person is exclusively one or the other. its just that some aspects of who they are are definitely biological, and some definitely arent. This is not made up. Also the sex you are identified as you are born is not the only factor for treatment. Physicians will definitelly want to know your hormone configuration has been changed because it affects body function in many ways, ultimately changing your sex.

  • Straight and gay people still feel atracted to those with specific sexual traits, whether natural or artificially developed, so the description is still important for dating. Some people dont care much about gender, but still consider sex important. And of course physicians are rarely interested in gender either when diagnosing medical conditions. What concerns them is biology. So just because transphobes misuse terms to justify discrimination, that doesnt render those terms invalid.

  • Yes. In the end its the usa who unilaterally decides for everyone.

  • I think our perception of a country plays a huge role in whether confrontation happens or not, so some attention is not undeserved. I only asked because you chose to describe the country in this way, even though it was the party you were defending. So what was the purpose of it? Do you feel uncomfortable being associated with the iranian state outside of this very specific context of conflict?

  • I think your stance on the war is a reasonable one, but

despite the fact that their regime is brutal and oppressive

How did you come to this understanding regarding iran?

  • They were both proxy wars. But what were they fighting for? In the cold war, usa wanted vietnam to remain a colony to extract profits, but ussr wanted an ally in the region instead. nowadays usa want ukraine to become a vassal state to destabilize its geopolitical adversaries in the region, specifically russia, much like israel is used against many middle eastern nations. russia has no virtuous intention other than self preservation, and they are not a superpower anymore, so they used the tools they had which was a military operation to disarm ukraine.

  • It's only fair iran is compensated for damages caused by usa and its proxies in the region, yet money cannot fix the gravest of mistakes.

  • Thank you so much. I was one moment away from learning something that would anger the western press. You are a life saver.

  • He would not last long. CIA would have him assassinated in no time.

  • A sovereign nation has the right to choose how it governs itself and manage their natural resources, unless they cause harm to other nations, which is not the case for the peaceful people of venezuela.

  • You misunderstand. I'm not trying to justify these measures. I'm pointing out their policy is not meant to safeguard human rights, but rather to exercise control. If you remember back in 2024 when Georgia introduced the foreign agents law, and EU officials were not happy about it, saying it was a pro russia law. This is what they said as I remember, that such a law was incompatible with european standards. In reality they were just sour that their assets in political interference abroad would lose effectiveness. My comment about garden closing its doors was a reference to back then EU official Josep Borell infamous metaphor comparing europe to a garden and the other countries to a jungle, as such was the fate of Georgia.

  • They consider incompatible with their values to mandate foreign actors indentify as such. The country needs to be wide open for political meddling, otherwise the garden will close its doors.

Edit: Not defending EU, see my other comment for context.

  • They did capture it, but right now seems to be contested.

  • Thanks for not using the "girls vs boys" version.

  • It's kind of poetic. Nobel made a lot of money selling explosives and was annoyed by how people viewed him as war profiteer, so he used his fortune to create a prize for promoting peace, and now it has evolved into a tool for promoting war, tarnishing his image.
