    Rewrites can happen due to new feature support.

    For examlle: It's entirely possible that a synchronous state machine worked for the previous needs of the software, but it grew to a point where now that state machine is unable to meet the new requirements and needs to be replaced with a modern fam with asynchronous singals/delegates.

    Just because that system was replaced doesn't mean that it wasn't maintainable, wasn't readable, or easy to understand. It just wasn't compatible with the growing needs of the application.

    If the EFF bought up ad-space to push PSAs about net neutrality and garner support and person action, would you be miffed? I wouldn't, because that's not really an "advertisement" .

    Edit: Yes, I know VPN behind this has a profit motive. But sometimes businesses stand up and advocate for personal action for the betterment of all. Just like Pornhub in states & countries that are requiring ID verifications are redirected to a page advocating for personal action for your rights instead of complying with a security nightmare.

  • I'm getting closer and closer to either leaving the US as a tech-refuge or moving to the middle of nowhere and living off grid with my data horde that has more offline media than one could consume in a lifetime.

    Not sure which is the best option. My bet is that Trump will start dropping nukes to prevent himself from leaving office and wind up cooking the planet alive before I get to choose.
