  • The "federated" twitter alternative taken down by a DDOS. I see something wrong with that statement.

  • End to end encryption in a system they entire control is worthless. They even allow retrieving your data through a friend or with a recovery key. My, how convenient! Would be quite help if your recovery key were generated in, well dont you know it, their system. Aw shucks.

  • Sending me marketing material from the fruit store just proves my point about their good marketing. You don't seriously believe you data is safe with them do you? They own the entire chain, from the entry of your password, to the storage of your data, and they can email you a recovery password or let a friend help you with recovering your data? Come on...

  • The fruit store has the decryption key to your data. It's just security theater. Stop storing sensitive data on the cloud if you dont encrypt it yourself.

Unfortunately, they have excellent marketing and even techies fall for their lies.

  • Are you able to send emails to the clearnet? If not, why not use I2P which has email built into the Java client?

  • I'd rather they supported a full linux phone instead of investing in something Goofle owns.

  • Keep telling yourself that when Google shuts down installation of 3rd party apps in AOSP.

  • 🤣 I had to really laugh out loud about that. Thank you.

  • No, it's obviously €MY_DISTRO

  • Are his feet glowing?

  • Anybody quoting Breitbart as a serious source can be ignored. Nothing intellectual is going to come out of them if they are misled by something so obviously biased.

  • Damn, that was a fast response. I found the other comment after having asked whether the instance was down.

  • "I miss downloading random executables and possibly infecting my OS" No I totally feel the nostalgia. :P

Seriously though, most of what I need is available in my package repo and software store. With flatpak, there's a plethora of stuff I can install.

If you're missing random exes, I'd like to know what it is you're trying to install, because that's like owning an android and complaining that what you want isn't lm the play store and wishing you could pull any old apk. (Which btw, you can).

  • If you're on a goofle device, then there's absolutely no chance it's local. None whatsoever. Iphones aren't better BTW, but at least android has degoofed ROMs where the content can actually be private.

  • Some of them live with a chatbot window open: nearly one in five executives admitted logging four or five hours a day with an AI model, while one in 25 use AI in excess of six hours a day.

Some of these CEOs have to be replaced. Half the day spent with an AI chatbot? That's insane. How are they going to make relevant business decisions with that?

  • I thought the North Korean OS was hacked, but they named the vuln after it. Not sure why.

  • Unfortunately, the majority will go "nothing to hide" and move on. Only when the effects hit will they notice.

  • Nothing will convince a fruithead that the fruit store can do anything wrong or that there's another way. Once you're in the system, it's like a cult.

Look, I get it, it feels nice and cozy, you feel like you belong and buying that device with those sweet, round patented corners suddenly elevates you above those that still send messages that arrive in different colours. But let me tell you, there's a world outside of the system where things surprisingly still work without papa Cook peering into everything you do.

It's obvious to me that's it's been a while since you've have this major experience others experience daily since you move into the garden. No, I won't tell you :)
