  • Haha I sing I’d wish they’d sack me practically every morning. I’ve got a soft spot for rebel songs. Being English it gives some sense of national pride in the long history of protest in this country, going back to the chartists, and gives some hope that we can be better

  • I know this one by heart haha. Chumbawamba have a good selection of antifascist songs

  • Look how they massacred my brie :(

  • Tbh I don’t think it’s that deep/I’m not that bothered by this post, which is why I replied in a joking tone rather than going Balls out Call out, but I do think these jokes can be negative influences.

Humour plays a major role in our socialisation, and replicating women as submissive and men as assertive in our jokes just serves to reinforce those internal narratives.

I have self esteem issues, and I recognise that self-deprecatory humour — even when I do it ironically and in a self aware way — is still harmful to me because it reinforces the way I view myself, and I’m trying to shift that pattern to self aggrandising because it does the opposite.

I’d draw a parallel in that using these stereotypes — even ironically — places these narratives as the null hypothesis.

Again I don’t think it’s that deep/this isn’t a personal attack, but that’s why these jokes rub me up the wrong way.

  • Untrue! Women are smol shy uwu bean who knows best but is too uwu to say so

Men are brash shouty horse people who know nothing but spray it with confidence

Why do we keep fucking inventing the 60s sitcom with the know it all housewife with the depressed smug smile and the thick husband who gets his way through blunt force patriarchy. We’re better than this.

  • men can’t have social anxiety. well known fact.

  • Worth mentioning the first ‘witch’ story is Equal Rites, if people want to start the series at the beginning (not that you need to!)

  • A fun little Attenborough fact: David Attenborough went to Clare college, and as such the college had a little bronze bust of him next to the buttery (cafeteria). The nose ended up very shiny, as it was considered good luck before exams to rub David’s nose.

  • It’s been an hour; any news?

  • Yep, I certainly agree. We can celebrate justice being done without unequivocally celebrating him as a person.

  • I’m still a bit icky on him though in that the song he did about the female cop raised a few homophobia and transphobia alarms. When all the other cops are getting diss tracks based on unplugging his video or looking at a lemon pound cake, why is she getting 13 min on the implication that she eats pussy and has a bigger hog than afroman?

(Obviously not saying he deserved his house raided with no due cause — only that I’m not sure he’s a nice guy necessarily)

  • The question is what time control you set your dessert to?

  • If you want a serious answer: garten of banban is a videogame that broadly follows five nights at Freddie’s style of evil corrupted fluffy things, and Markiplier etc. have played it (I think?).

Scenecore sparkledog furry art as a phrase is aggressively queer to the point of being a funny caricature.

The final piece of the puzzle is the rallying cry ‘cringe culture is dead’. It’s popular on places like tumblr etc. and is used to push back on the social pressure of cringe culture, that often affects people who are queer or nerds or furries etc.

So we have the joke: ‘tumblr-y people pushing back against cringe culture when they have to defend people who enjoy a piece of media that is (not AI) slop pushed out to jump on the FNAF trend.’

To clarify: I am in favour of letting people enjoy things.
