  • Have a good time playing with that ;-)

Microbiology is fun but bit too time consuming, I like it but it's not for everyone.

Btw if you want to make your own agar plates I have good results with classic agar with wort, it has to be ~8°Bx and don't need any more nutrients added. I still have some left in jars that got through pressure cooker.

  • You probably mean this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qVrg5eRJVTA

And yes burning it as fuel is the most stupid way of using it. The message shouldn't be "We can't live without it" but "If it is soooo useful, why we just burn it?"

  • I am really interested how this will turn out! Let us know because I want to try it too maybe in few months if I will have a time and somebody to drink it with me afterwards.

  • I would look in to night trains that you can get with interrail. Just because you can have more time on the location and don't have to spend money on accomodation.

Otherwise it can be quite nice trip my friends did 14 days last year through Germany, France, Belgium, Switzerland, Italy and Austria, and were quite satisfied with the decision.

  • I looked up the bike and you shouldn't need that much tools for "everything". You should be mostly fine with chain whip and cassette tool for changing a cassette, headset wrench, crankset tool and maybe bearing wrenches for wheel bearings.

Most of the little tools like spoke wrench or chain splitter are included on larger multitools. I use some from Lezyne and works just fine even long term. And if you don't ride that much terrain tracks you don't need to worry that much about the suspension fork.

  • If I get it correctly you want to know 2 different things:

    1. How to service your bike at home - what tools to buy, what is needed to maintain...

    2. What tools to bring with you on bike ride.

      1. Is quite easy everything you want to maintain. I would start looking in to ParkTool YouTube channel where are the steps nicely explained with every tool you need so everyone can follow it. For me it is everything and I got tools for all my specific parts but it isn't true for most people and some things are better to leave on bikeshop (tools are expensive, you can badly mess it up...)

      2. This depends on your type of riding - you have to be able to at least limp back home. So at least tools to change the inner tube with spares and pump.

More specific answer - multitool, tire leavers, pump, hex wrench set, patch kit (for patching at home) and then if you want to do more specialised task think about the purchase of the tools or if it's ok for you to bring the bike to the shop.

  • Yes I watched it too but his version is made to just look like it, this one is whats your fantasy suggest is in it.

I like them both but for different reasons.

  • Futurama @lemmy.world

Nile red made Bachelor chow and it's everything I imagined it was in the show.

  • I also want to know this.

WordPress (and other solutions) is quite heavy for my needs and Squarespace seems like too much vendor lock in.

Other "website building" solutions like Hugo require too much knowledge in HTML which I would like to not touch at all.

  • Look in to SQlabs saddles. I did 10 000km bikepacking on one and it was great. The one I picked wasn't especially nice looking but you can buy nicer looking ones.

It isn't for everyone, some people can't stand it and it takes some time to get used to it. So maybe it will be good option for you.

I'm testing Brooks leather saddle right now and it is ok too (I bought it mostly for better durability than the SQlabs foam) but it needs to be broken in to a bit and isn't nice from the start (also the price is quite steep).

  • Now that I looked in to it I want to make some for myself.

I can probably get 200 of these for 50€ including the shipping. So maybe I will do it.

  • For novelty item the suggestions like ceramic ones or wood ones laser cut are better option and multiple people make these.

But if you want the paper ones and actually want to use them the higher quantity isn't that bad idea - they get wet all the time and tears apart, on the bar they last only few days. So ordering like 200 isn't so large quantity when you think about it.

I would ask in some craft brewery where they order them, usually it is some local smaller print shop which makes all kinds of promotional stuff - labels, fliers...

At the brewery where I worked the guy from the print shop did the unified design for all the labels and other promotional stuff.

  • It only looks good an a plate and what I remember smaller critters were better. If you don't try it you won't loose that much.

  • Just so you know they are edible when you feed them correctly. Not so good as other edible insects (too much chitin shell) but quite ok. I had it once more than 10 years ago so don't remember that much about it anymore.

So just a tip for the eventuality of overbreading.

  • This 100% is the problem with bad policy.

Maybe it will get at least bit more possible after the new railway EU legislation passes this year but I am not that hopeful because they are just bunch of idiots flying business jets and don't understand the problems there.

Tbh it is big lobby by national railway companies like SNCF that slow the prgress way down, they should really pull out their heads from their asses and recognise that cross European travel isn't that much competition.

  • That's a bummer. Hopefully you will be able to pick some hobbies sooner than later even if it isn't homebrewing. I just think that we are wired to do some things just for fun however small they are otherwise we get bit insane.

  • BuT HiS MoTHer iS FrOm south Moravia...

    Yes fucking hipocryte.

  • I will have to try something like this. In the last few months I saw multiple posts about using chilly peppers for brewing so maybe putting it in beer will be interesting. I will probably test it first in small batches/only few bottles.
