  • As I understand it, that’s very normal with cats with point coloration.

Hope you’re doing well post-surgery! Looks like you have an excellent in-home nurse to look after you.

  • I think it’s just cropped out. Is the very edge of it on the left side of the pic? It’s hard to tell.

  • I was just checking my comments and noticed I got downvoted a bunch, and saw your comment separately; maybe it was directed at me?

No, I am quite far from a republican. My kids go to a public school in the SF Bay Area. However, our school is very community-focused, so when someone leaves, we all notice. A LOT of them leave for private school because they don’t like something that the district is doing. Private schools are also seen as “elite” which is very attractive for a lot of the tech people who do choose to have kids. As someone who believes strongly in public education, it can get really frustrating to watch our district do inane stuff like hire teachers way later than neighboring districts, just as an example. And we as parents have little recourse against the decisions the district makes. We elect the board but it’s the district staff that give us the most trouble. Anyway that’s all I meant; I think it’s shortsighted to think that the only reason public schools are seeing less enrollment is because there are fewer kids. There may be, yes, but they’re also competing against private schools for those same kids.

  • OP’s picture is cropped with a gray background.

  • Attributed to lower birth rates and fewer immigrants. Not people being fed up with the way public schools are run and funded, and heading for private schools instead?

  • Wait, not to be a total asshole about someone’s name but I thought the -lyn suffix was pretty feminine? This man was set up to fail by his parents.

  • It’s adjacent but my boomer dad thinks I should be getting my news from network news stations since I also don’t get the newspaper. For some reason he thinks those sources are more reliable than the internet without thinking about who owns them.

  • I love my dolman tees. I do use a pattern that is supposed to have longer tacked-on sleeves but I skip them. Honestly I’ve probably made 10 or so and that’s what I prefer to wear so I keep making them in different colors. Maybe someday I’ll have enough to go two weeks without doing laundry!

  • Great photos!

  • Wait wait. You’re starting with Engel’s “Many Waters?” Isn’t it book 4 in a series where book 1 (“A Wrinkle in Time”) is considered a classic?

It’s been a long time but I remember liking book 2 a whole lot. I never did get book 5, though I think there is one?

  • Yes but also is that just Rothfuss’ excuse when fans call him out about plot inconsistencies? Because that’s how I heard that “explanation” came about.

  • I took it that way too honestly. Honestly it made me skip reading the rest of your argument until I saw the comments below it talking about what you actually meant, so yeah, syntax is annoying but necessary for getting the point you want to make across. (I did go back and read the rest of your argument.)

  • Wow seeing that gif was a forcible mental teleportation back into the early 90s.

  • All girls Catholic school (though I am not, and have never been Catholic). We had three nuns on campus, two teachers and a counselor. One of them taught religious studies and that was where we got 9th grade sex ed. This teacher was firm but beloved, a bit of a hippie, also taught a class about spirituality that was separate from religion, said things like “God has no gender” in class but would straight up call God a woman outside of class, exclusively played Joan Baez and Joni Mitchell music… you get the picture.

Anyway it’s become a bit of a legend now, but apparently during sex ed for the girls a couple of grades ahead of mine, one of the students boldly asked, “Sister, how do you know anything about this? Why are we being taught this by a nun?”

The response was, “I wasn’t always a nun. I’ve been around the block a few times.” You can imagine the uproar this caused for a bunch of 9th grade Catholic girls.

  • Presuming it was a girls school, probably for examining one’s own lady parts.

  • Most Californians don’t call it “Cali.” At least not where I live.

  • Average. There’s a shit ton of mountains (volcanoes) in Hawaii too and it does not take long to go from peak to beach.

  • I replaced my VW TDI with a Tesla. I just keep picking them, don’t I?

  • C’mon

  • My bridesmaids wore white. The inspiration was an old tradition where the wedding attendants were there to trick evil spirits so that the spirits wouldn’t know who was actually getting married. I mean obviously that’s stupid but I liked the idea and they looked lovely.
