  • Can the GNU/ Linux Foundation Fork Android and Maintain it?

  • Iirc, there was talk of getting the android core to sync back to Linux and send plenty of code upstream. The project was supposed to take plenty of time as android had strayed very far away from its Linux origin. I have no idea what happened and when the project stopped.

  • It really depends. Is the art reflective of what the creator believes? There are so many things from Neil Gaimen I love, but I think he is an utter shit pile. I love Good Omens and Sandman. But the money will still go to him. That is pretty bad. As for Rowling, I do appreciate Harry Potter and how each book grew up with the kids reading it, but I never could stand the insane commercialization of it all before her stupid and insane comments. And the new series, she has specifically stated that she wants to create it to separate her work from the three that have spoken out against her.

  • You make some valid points. Especially the lack of money in the rpg scene. The hope was more than just RPGs, but other table-top style games, and have a lounge setting with multiple tables members can reserve. And the BYOB was a hope I wouldn't have to deal with liquor licenses and still have an adult member base. I will admit that I will need more research, especially market research, before considering launching something like this.

  • To clarify, I was asking for his M$ account details. And when I needed to get the verification codes out of his email, he kept giving me a password for what he thought was a working account.

  • I've meet younger folks like this, but they are usually acting too entitled to do things for themselves. When it's someone from an older generation, they actually start asking for help, and when we guide them through the process their remarks are usually about how simple it was.

  • The issue as I have presented isn't one of "Old People Dumb", but one of the idea that older people shouldn't refuse to learn about something because they are "too old". Or enabling that line of thinking. I recently had a customer buy a new computer for me and paid for a setup. I needed account details, and he had no idea what his accounts were, his passwords, just that he wanted his computer setup. When I asked for any passwords to get the setup done, he didn't know because his kids set all that up. If the kids took a moment to show him what was going on, how things worked, maybe he would have had an idea when he needed it.

  • I actually like most of the people in the middle. Those are the people who figure out enough to become type A. The rest I can tell are trying, so I'm not worried about them not becoming Type A.

  • Working in a store with a self-service printing center, I can tell you it's a lack of wanting to learn, or even read. Instructions are spelled out on the copiers, but many of my customers will demand someone to help them before even looking at the device because they claim they are too old and not tech-minded enough to do it themselves. Actual excuses to not even trying.

  • I'm a sales supervisor in an office supply store, and I get this ALL THE TIME! I once had someone argue with me over the name of the cable connectors and wondered why I didn't know what they were talking about. Then they said, and I quote, "Well, to me that's what I call them, so I'm going to just keep calling them that."
