  • What's your relationship with your mother like?

  • At the moment a bit strained, I'm going to be having a conversation with her soon that may or may not clear the air

    We've had difficulties ever since I went to college and realised how controlling and judgemental she is, she also doesn't like how I've turned out as a person (I'm artistic, I don't conform to her expectations of what a woman should be and act, and also being autistic probably adds to my 'weirdness')

    I'm beginning to realise that I have ingrained ableism, coupled with horrendous masking courtesy of her

  • I think old people are just not equipped to survive on the internet

    I think its people in general

    During lock down when people were at home and having to amuse themselves some made bread and did arts and crafts, whilst others ended up jumping off a cliff into conspiracy theories and right wing bollocks

    One guy I know of suggested ivermectin and dog dewormers to treat my bf's cancer because 'cancer is caused by parasites.... there's plenty of information on the internet.... you can do your own research...etc etc'

    I used to think the average person was mostly decent and sensible, but not anymore

  • What’s something women should support each other more about?

  • There's plenty of info given to girls as they approach puberty (we were given booklets, free sanitary products and the lilets woman came to give us a talk)

    But as older women we're reliant on older sisters, aunties and friends if we're lucky (or the internet)

    Its quite a hidden rite of passage compared to how it all started

    Secondary school, by the person who bullied me at primary Uni Work by colleagues and bosses

    I discovered I have ASD, and probably a side of ADHD too, so it's a pattern with me I suppose I try to avoid most people now or keep a distance

  • I went into one of those toilets you describe not too long ago in a restaurant

    It was a pleasant novelty to have 'my' own individual space

    It seems a practical solution for a problem that some dickheads are making for people that they're unlikely to ever meet

  • Jane Austin films/TV series I despise social hierarchy, class, stiff upper lip, fixed gender roles, but really enjoy Jane Austin

    My favourite is currently Lady Susan She's such a masterful player who manages to navigate the social restrictions and does exactly what she wants to do

    I wish there were more Lady Susans

  • I hate the fact that most (but not all fragrances) are shoehorned into male/female categories Its a smell! It doesn't have genitalia, if you love it wear it And as a fragrance nerd I have a lot of supposedly 'masculine' scents full of woods, spices, booze etc A (male) truck driver mentioned that he loved wearing Chanel no5 on one of the fragrance sites which I think is fantastic! A man comfortable with himself and wearing what he loves

  • I love the Cambrian Era fossils, so many strange creatures. I've not read Wonderful Life mainly because I'd like an up to date version with the newer discoveries and interpretations....

    Have you ever checked out the Chinese fossils? They are so well preserved the detail is astonishing, often complete with soft tissues! I managed to score a book from Amazon which was massively reduced because of a bit of damage to it

    Just found this which could tick the box for me
