  • bruh

  • That's a lot of cope babe, are you ok? & thanks for posting Linus' ravings to prove the other guy right

  • Braver than the troops

  • Their smug "look at this loser causing a scene" reactions are so infuriating. Really makes you think

  • There are small undercurrents of this happening, but it's depressing how "Israel" adjacent the culture actually is overall. Russian and Polish minorities in Lithuania are more aware of the situation overall, but Lithuanians are drinking the white supremacy juice pretty uncritically on the whole.

  • Literally unthinkable smh my head

  • As it becomes harder and harder to pretend that Ukraine will win the war, hegemonic NATO media is starting to have to rationalise it. Here's some choice quotes from "John Hughes-Wilson, a military intelligence expert, historian and a retired British colonel" giving us a Fair & Balanced™ look at things

When asked about the Kursk incursion:

We can imagine him saying to the Russians: 'Ok, now you have a piece of Ukraine east of the Dnieper River, and I have a piece of Russia.' He knows that the only possible end for Ukraine is negotiations. There's not going to be a big victory over Russia, forget it.

But Zelensky knows that when the peace treaty comes and there will be peace talks, he has something to sell to Russia to balance Russia's claim to the Donbas.

I mean a lot of that is infuriatingly mind numbing, but what I find interesting is that they seem to be letting people down emotionally by saying that there's not going to be a "big victory", but at the same time saying that during negotiations, Zelensky will still be able to reclaim the Donbas under the Ukrainian state due to his cleverness. So the material goals of victory haven't moved, but it's no longer presented as victory. I imagine this will make it easier to change the details later on, but still present it in the same emotionally lulled tone to make people memory hole the details and accept whatever peace deal comes to pass, because it won't be good for Ukraine.

::: spoiler extra cope When asked about what led to the Russian invasion "being the way it was":

The Ukrainians were warned that Russia was mobilising. But the Ukrainians, let's be honest, were fighting among themselves. The Ukrainian [politics] were deeply corrupt and I don't think they took the threat very seriously. So when the attack did come, it came as a big shock.

I wonder who was fanning the flames of the infighting the whole time

The Russians also believe that the Donbas region is Russian, because so many people there speak Russian, want to be Russian.

But despite that they're obviously Ukranian, because of line-on-map you see!

The Russians are scared, they have been ever since 1945, when Stalin said to the Politburo to be very careful of the Americans. [...] Russia is surrounded by dangers and, in the Russian mind, the capitalists. That's you and me – we are out to get them and so they're always terrified. [...] They are paranoid and they always will be because they think the West is technically better and richer.

When asked if "western" intelligence services are still as active in Russia as they were during the cold war, the anglo dodges the question:

Overall, all they want to do is keep an eye on Russia. It needs to watch Russia very carefully. But the West is not worried by Russia because Putin does not wish to attack Germany, he doesn't want to invade the Baltics, he doesn't want to come to Vilnius. He has enough problems at home with the economy and with Ukraine and he doesn't want new adventures, therefore, Russia is self-contained – that is the Western intelligence view.

But It does not mean that Russia, trapped in a corner, thinking that we're out to get them, will not react violently.

The way this downplays then fearmongers, then downplays then fearmongers again is just a trip on its own. Not to mention how he dodges the question and still tries to pretend that it's basically all in paranoid Putin's head. If you think about it, we should really be spreading awareness of mental health to help poor Putler

  • Up to 450,000 people in Lithuania are short of food, says Simonas Gurevičius, the head of the Food Bank (Maisto Bankas) NGO.

This represents around 15 percent of the population.

“The Food Bank is helping 232,000 people,” the head of the NGO said, adding that even more people are in need of food assistance.

At the same time, 400,000 tonnes of food are wasted in Lithuania each year, he noted.

Food insecurity rises in autumn when heating bills and other expenses increase financial pressure on low-income households, Gurevičius said.

  • Last time I encountered it was Wizorb, but the whole point of it there is that it's a callback to a different time

  • what the caucasity?

  • Yeah, I relate a lot

  • I have had people turn on me over nothing at various points

    Too real x_x

I don't think this is a you problem more the people misinterpeering you.

Yeah thankfully I don't see it as a me problem anymore, but it is annoying how often it happens.

  • Neurotypicals

    tsk tsk literally incomprehensible

  • "canadian"

  • Wow, that's like the opposite of my autism where I'll say some innocuous sentence and it gets interpreted as angry. Then I have to 4d chess inside my brain to figure out what just happened, otherwise I'm socially cooked. Sadly this has resulted in me never being able to stop doing 4d chess in my mind, which is very exhausting and not good for my self esteem tbh

  • For when the cashier forgets to remove it and you don't want to drive back.

Indeed, for those cases and only cases like that

  • Damn, someone else played this?

it was a pretty cute little project.

If you're on the fence, just wait until it's pirateable imo.

Good call, but I haven't found a good place for pirating games for linux yet, so I've been spending money on steam

  • yeah, re: the magical gameshow - it was very boring and even yucky to put so much emphasis on "royal magic" that takes control of the destiny of the entire state, even in the physical absence of any royals. I guess it just felt so nonsensical, especially compared to some of the more grounded aspects of the writing that I was enjoying before that moment.

Big journey across the world with your pals does sound pretty great tbh. The fast travel thing does sound annoying, but I'm very used to ignoring the fast travel in games for the most part, just because I tend to enjoy it more that way, so maybe I could get away with doing that here as well.

I've had another look through my finances and there's no way I can afford it this month, so I think I'll just channel this energy into playing Yakuza Like a Dragon (which I got on a steep sale a while ago, and still haven't given it a fair go), or FFVII. I'll see maybe I pick up the "Golden" version a few years later and have a fun time with it. Or maybe I won't give a shit by then, which is also cool.
