Blender uses Peertube as a major platform for videos about Blender and made in Blender. Blender is a perfect example of actually committing to using Peertube and showing it can in general work.

I think people way overthink the difficult of bringing new people into Peertube and the Fediverse. What is sticky are the people, artists and organizations that have people who trust them and seek out what they make, not the platforms. What is sticky about the Fediverse is that people are compelling and interesting to interact with here.

If creators decide to come here themselves, their audience in the end isn't going to care that much where they go to get the videos especially if it doesn't require an account sign up to access.

It will take time, but the inspiring thing is it is already completely possible to do!

I love how shit on the fediverse bounces around like crazy from server to server all over the world with messages being duplicated by different communities to make the protocol work.

Here is one of the vanishing few places in the digital realm beyond video games that see messy interweaving and interconnection between people internationally towards more and more wholistic communities as a form of strength against fascism rather than weakness.

In one sense the Fediverse is far easier to obliterate than other online communities given how little money and traditional resources the Fediverse has to defend itself vs. how globally exposed it is, but in another it would be the most massive headache in the world to try to quietly and carefully censor voices on the Fediverse given the constant beehive activity interacting across disparate communities located in different countries with different laws and different motivations and key actors.

I am very passionate about correcting the misinformation and disinformation around this, I wholeheartedly believe the more vulnerable we are in sharing ourselves through digital identities in larger and more interconnected communities the less power authoritarian forces have over us.

It may seem counterintuitive, but you need only to look to history for how ineffective everybody receding from public spaces pre-emptively in response to fears of fascism was or look more closely at the opposing solutions to the Fediverse that attempt to run away from the fragmentation and censorship of Corporate Social Media and the old internet by fragmenting pre-emptively into disconnected and uncommunicative smaller atomized commmunities to see why the Fediverse is absolutely necessary for resistance.

The prewar discourse in Italy which focused on the haunting ‘nightmare’ of depopulation and degeneration was all about sex and death. Maybe the problem isn't believing or (not believing) in a diety in the sky or that facts don't automatically declaw beliefs but that we are failing to nurture the humanity of ourselves and others.

The news is pathologically unable to differentiate clueless, fascist use of US military power at the top with the capability of US forces in general.

Look at how the world was/is still TOTALLY unconvinced of the dominance of US rotary wing forces (and of rotary wing forces in general) after Venezuela, it was maddening seeing the world ignore that power imbalance because cheap drones beat expensive helicopters something something blah blah blah (the fact that the helicopters were carrying and launched their own drones to hunt down active air defenses is of course ignored).

Yeah fuck the US I get it but it is wishful baby thinking, Iran is losing the war over the Strait Of Hormuz in terms of capacity to deny shipping while conducting their own. Time is running out for Iran as it is the US.

I also expect a small amount of oil is being blockade run with unmanned underwater vehicles and Iran has no counter to that against blue water navies.

Ok, shut up and buy my vote back again asshole, it is easy.

If you are going to refuse to improve people's lives while condescending them, people are going to vote for the guy that just straight up promises them a check even if they know he is lying.

This isn't rocket science, people don't like being told to "calm down everything will be fine so long as we go back to the status quo" when the status quo is strangling their family to death. Even when the alternative is in all likelihood worse people at their rock bottom don't care about that shit.

This has been proven a million times in history and is precisely why most revolutions fail, they only are allowed to happen by the center once it is already too late for the prevailing sentiment to be anything other than "burn it all down".

Centrists are fine losing over and over again until a collapse into blind, chaotic and pointless revolution/violence which is why leftists and progressives are so adamant about having a bold, progressive but practical vision to improve people's lives NOW before it is too late.

Centrists offer "take this pathetic gesture of help or nothing!" and are shocked and feign bewilderment when people spit in their face and say "I will take nothing".

I cannot emphasize enough how dangerous, radical and destabilizing the Centrist belief is that the only two possibilities are either keeping the system largely unchanged except for small tweaks or complete chaos. It ensures we end up collapsing into chaos and it demands nihilistic political radicalization.
