I'm just a person who does mycology for fun.

  • It's better without the caption IMO.

  • I use mine for grating whole nutmeg.

  • I loved that movie, definitely worth a watch.

  • I would drop Crazy Joker, doubling The Order will give you way more than +13 mult. That way you can also copy Cartomancer between rounds to get more money/hanged man for Canio.

  • It works pretty well as a one season show IMO. Without giving too much away: after watching the ending:

it's obvious what happens next to the point where it works as a conclusion.

  • Does anyone (besides RTD) have any hype for this spinoff? The Sea Devils were so hokey and boring in that special.

  • It's amazing how much better SMBC's writing got over the years given that it started this bad.

  • You're definitely early enough that you've got a lot more to learn. Your runs will get much faster as you learn the game better (and feel comfortable turning up the game speed in settings).

Some tips for dealing with hard boss blinds:

    • you can see the next boss blind starting from the previous boss's shop, this means you have up to three shops to adjust for it.
    • boss blinds are designed to punish different strategies so the more you focus your deck on a single strategy, the more likely it is you'll run into a hard counter. That doesn't mean you shouldn't focus on a single strategy, but if you do, you need to try to prioritize getting a voucher or joker that lets you reroll boss blinds that counter you or have a way to work around it.
    • The Needle (play only one hand) punishes relying on lots of low value hands. If you see it upcoming, drop +hands jokers for +hand size or +discards and try to level up your best hand or one with good scaling like Straight.
    • The Wall (extra large blind) is supposed to punish saving up money without committing to a strategy by playing a deck that can barely get by, but it often just ends runs where you failed to get the pieces you need. When you see it upcoming, you need to make sure you're committed to a decent strategy ASAP.

    General tips:

    • interest is important, try not to spend all your money for optimal income unless you need to.
    • if you have jokers that gain stats when you play certain cards/hands (eg. Spare Trousers) and can easily clear a blind, consider playing some suboptimal hands to build them up more.
    • early game you want to focus +mult because your chips will typically be higer than mult due to the value of cards. Late game when your hands are leveled up, *mult and +chips become more important than +mult.
  • I puked and was dizzy and nauseous for hours. I kept passing out but couldn't stay asleep, every time I woke up my head would start spinning again, it was agonizing.

    Know your limits folks.

  • My partner had to eat low FODMAP for a few years but eventually their gut reset and now they can have small to moderate amounts of onions and garlic again. After the onion and garlic, the biggest hurdle to keeping low FODMAP is cutting out high fructose corn syrup because it's in so many packaged foods you wouldn't think about like certain brands of breadcrumbs (Progresso).

My number 1 suggestion is to make your own onion infused olive oil: put a roughly-chopped onion in a pot with a whole bottle of olive oil, warm it up (it should be warm not hot), let it cool, take out the onion pieces, and pour it back in the bottle (store in the fridge to preserve the flavor longer). You can do this for garlic as well but garlic-infused oils are a lot easier to find at the the store (just make sure you get infused oils that don't contain actual bits of garlic or juice, Boyajin was a brand I liked a lot).

I used to make fajitas without onions by using my infused oils in the marinade and upping the amount of bell pepper.

  • This is a Drew Struzan painting, he used to paint all the movie posters but I don't think he did a lot of work for TV.

I'm sure there's some folks out there who might be able to replicate his style but it's highly detailed and likely to cost you a bundle to commission.

  • It's generally unsafe to eat mushrooms raw and raw candy caps don't have much flavor so you need to cook them.

  • They used to cast actors of appropriate skill nepotism

FTFY, they still do, but they used to as well.

  • I had the same experience, my doctor told me the home ones are often worthless but insurance companies like to make you try them before approving a sleep lab because it's cheaper.

  • Stropharia Ambigua is edible but supposedly tastes how it smells: like rotting leaves. There's also some bitter/spicy Russula I've only tasted raw which are supposed to taste pretty awful even after cooking.

  • but they don't taste bad that I remember.

Muscaria is actually a pretty good culinary mushroom if you remove the water-soluble muscimol and ibotenic acid by parboiling it in a large pot of water.

It has a pleasant savory flavor that's slightly nutty and it sears nicely even after being boiled.

  • Only if you live in a place where it gets cold in the winter.

  • I highly recommend it, the first episode is a little rough but once they get past the exposition it's a great ride. I hope it gets renewed for a second season but S1 has a satisfying-enough ending that I'd still recommend it even if Netflix decides to Netflix it. Ali Wong is a producer on the show so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that she has enough pull with Netflix these days (post Beef) to get another season.

  • Finished Jentry Chau vs. the Underworld. Fantastic show with great animation and a supernatural drama vibe that reminds me of Buffy the Vampire slayer.

I also finally got around to Hilda Season 3, I thought it was a great end to the series but I'm sad there's no more Hilda. It seems like the kind of show that could have gone on much longer.

I've been watching Invincible Fight Girl week to week. I love the art style and the obvious passion of the animators but I really wish they had more budget so episodes wouldn't be a slideshow for most of the runtime. The animation is fantastic when they do a proper fight scene but it's clear they can't afford much when they do a whole tournament episode and can only show a punch or two from each fight.
