I'm just a person who does mycology for fun.

  • Viscose isn't artificial, it's made of processed cellulose (wood pulp or bamboo).

  • Because it's what the bad guy in every sexual harassment training video says just before his female coworker reports him to HR?

  • Humilating women isn't funny. "It's just a joke" isn't an excuse for harassment.

  • It was a coworker, she was another comedian on tour with him, not a soldier. If they had been working in an office he would have been fired immediately and she could have sued the company.

  • Making sexual jokes about a coworker without their consent is called sexual harassment. Especially if you photograph this joke so your coworker can be repeatedly humiliated as it's passed around.

  • Looks like an Entoloma, their caps are often described as looking "greasy".

  • Seems likely to play the same hand again.

  • Not my region but Purpleish spores means it's likely Psathyrellaceae. That pleated sausage-shaped cap is typically associated with the inky caps.

It looks like it might be Coprinellus Micaceus (Mica Cap) which is very widely distributed and is said to feature "glistening mica-like particles on the cap" which yours appears to have.

Like I said, not my region so I don't know of any potential lookalikes, we have C. Micaceus in my region (North American Pacific Northwest) but I've never examined one in person so I can't be too confident.

  • 30 years ago, Arizona iced tea was made with cane sugar. Now it's all high fructose corn syrup.

  • If Lemmy were more stable maybe I would have gotten the joke.

  • Either you need to clear your cache or your instance is having federation issues.

    Edit: I got whooshed

  • Remember when the Panama/Paradise papers came out and there were practically no Americans listed in them because American tax law is already so favorable to the rich that they don't even need to bother hiding assets?

  • Blockchain is such fucking cursed tech. I'm expecting a horrible plot twist where the US Government adopts Bitcoin (ruining the few things that were ever somewhat attractive about Bitcoin) and then it turns out Satoshi sold their wallet to Elon Musk years ago.

  • Doesn't look familiar but I'm happy to take a shot at an ID if you're willing to dig it up and post pictures of the underside and the base of the stem.

  • Let's see we got: Suillus, probably Caerulens but could be Luteus or Ponderosus

    Helvella Vespertina

    Psathyrella of some sort

  • "Nailed it!" is my goto chill show, all the contestants are failing miserably at making fancy cakes but they're also not taking it too seriously and Nicole Byers keeps up a positive and encouraging attitude even when she's making cracks about the cakes.

  • Paper is made out of wood, the fibers are much harder than most sewing fabrics like cotton. It's only easier to cut because it's so stiff compared to fabric so even dull scissors can split it.

  • If you didn't know, this one part of a series where these two characters try various magic fountains with different effects searching for the fountain of youth. It's a bit funnier in context because it's subverting the expectation of something weird happening when they drink the water.
