I installed ephemeral NixOS on my boomer Dad’s laptop because he was incapable of maintaining a stable system (and really only uses the machine for web browsing).
He recently called me complaining that he can’t do his taxes with that machine because H&R Block have a hard requirement for > Win11 or MacOS just to do taxes.
We laughed, we cried, I loudly trumpeted the incompetence/cheapness at H&R Block that prevents them from moving past the 90’s and creating a browser-accessible tax app like their competition that even the most incompetent web dev can manage to release.
