  • In my own experience as an IT tech, this is still on HR because HR is still adding people to the job past the deadline to be able to ship stuff out in time. We do what we can but we're not miracle workers. Can't ship stuff to someone if we don't have their name or address.

  • In no way am I coming to the defense of American cheese product here, but I do need to point out that there are actually 3 different types of American cheese, based on how they are made. True American Cheese (which is "Pasteurized Process American Cheese"), the grosser "Pasteurized Process Cheese Food", and the absolute worst "Pasteurized Prepared Cheese Product".

If you have never had it before, you should absolutely try real American cheese, maybe just don't go into it with the expectation that it's similar to any other kind of cheese (I'm not even sure it could be called a cheese anywhere else tbh but it's really good). It's OK on its own, but it's really good for being used in or on other things.

I'll just go ahead and admit right now that I'm an American (sorry) and I'm poor, so I don't have the chance to try the best cheeses, but I have managed to find and try most of the best cheeses that an average citizen can find in the US.

The "prepared cheese food" is the disgusting thing to which you're referring, that stuff doesn't even melt which is fucked up. It's not legally able to be called a cheese even in the US. It is the main reason that American cheese has such a bad rap, the second reason being the "cheese product", and the third being that even true American cheese sometimes has a fake looking yellow/orange color to it (but white American cheese is also a thing if the colors turn you off).

Actual American cheese is really good on burgers, breakfast sandwiches, and imo it's by far the best cheese for a grilled cheese sandwich. It melts very easily and the flavor is creamy and delicious. I still don't know whether it's actually a cheese or not, but I do know that it is delicious.

One quick way to tell them apart is the packaging: aside from the name, the gross ones are always individually wrapped (because I'm pretty sure it's not something that could even be sliced, so they just pump it straight into the wrapper or something gross like that). True American cheese is usually not individually wrapped, it's just a pre-sliced cube of solid cheese (if it is an actual cheese, again I'm not sure).

The weirdest thing to me is that anyone could find the cheese food acceptable. Its not even that much cheaper than the real stuff and it is incredibly gross, the texture is off, the flavor is most similar to vomit. We have other cheeses here, why is this even still a thing?

Here's is the relevant Wikipedia section if anyone is interested:

Because its manufacturing process differs from traditional cheeses,[19] federal laws mandate that it be labeled as "pasteurized process American cheese" if made from more than one cheese. A "pasteurized process American cheese" must be entirely cheese with the exception of an emulsifying agent, salt, coloring, acidifying agents, and optional dairy fat sources (but at no more than 5% of the total weight).[8] A "pasteurized process American cheese food" label is used if it is at least 51% cheese but other specific dairy ingredients such as cream, milk, skim milk, buttermilk, cheese whey, or albumin from cheese whey are added.[20] Products with other added ingredients, such as Kraft Singles that contain milk protein concentrate, use legally unregulated terms such as "pasteurized prepared cheese product".[21]

  • My experience with these games has been mostly positive. Played It Takes Two and Split Fiction with my partner. I will say, the writing is god-awful, especially in split fiction (which is especially egregious since they're supposed to be writers), but we're there for the gameplay, not the writing.

The gameplay is incredibly broad. We are both technically-minded and have done a little bit of indie game dev, so we were constantly being amazed that they had managed to put so many different mechanics into both games, and still have everything feel so smooth.

It's really impressive just how much they shoved into those games, but I do wish they had spent a little more time/money on writing an interesting story and developing the characters in ways that don't feel like the most cliche way possible. Like I said though, we're there for the gameplay, and it definitely has the gameplay.

  • Yeah I was surprised to see the down votes, that was some top notch shitposting

  • What's funny is that Sam doesn't even use the mic, he normally folds it up after the intro and sticks it in his pocket

  • You would get some amount of increased performance from dual 8 GB chips, yes, but getting 1x16 GB chip allows you to upgrade to 32 GB later for the cost of 1 more 16 GB chip, instead of having to get a 2x16 GB set. Can be much more economical, especially with prices these days.

  • sorry in advance, but you would actually be asking "are all ya'll 21 or older? " because in America you can't drink until at least 3 years after you're allowed to start killing people

  • It's the hair, also the gross attraction to very young women, but I think it's mostly the hair

  • One young kid is asking his parents if his friend can stay the night, while said friend is sheepishly looking from the background. The expressions on the animals are kind of funny in that context. It's less of a joke and more of a relatable experience with an image attached

  • A burger does generally have meat in it, yes. Almost any advertisement for almost any fast food chain that has existed has advertised meat, whether it comes from cows or birds or pigs. Also any ads for grocery stores, restaurants, etc. Wendy's slogan "where's the beef?" was a huge success, same with "Beef, it's what's for dinner". Arby's current slogan is "We have the meats."

  • I can give more of an answer. There is (or was) a birth control method called the sponge, or the today sponge. It is entered into the vagina and pushed up against the cervix, blocking the entrance, and it contains spermicide as well.

In s7e9 of Seinfeld, the sponge is discontinued, causing Elaine to panic (as it is her preferred method of birth control) and search across the city to find more sponges. When she does find and buys a case, she then realizes that even though she has more sponges, she may never be able to get more, and thus starts to debate on whether her current boyfriend is "sponge worthy"

    • Twunk - a muscly, mostly bodyhairless gay man
    • Bear - a hairy, thicker gay man
    • Otter - a thinner but still hairy gay man
    • J/O - jerk off
    • Frot - touching two penises together, usually while j/o with each other
    • Top - the person who is topping is the person penetrating
    • Bottom - same but is instead the person being penetrated
    • Verse - likes being both top and bottom
    • Side - I'm less familiar with this one but given the quotes and context I'm assuming this is not a top or a bottom or a verse, but instead is someone less interested in penetration and more interested in body contact and j/o together. *
  • Yes, they do offer them in varying levels of nicotine. I decided about a month ago to stop vaping after doing it daily for 10 years. Ordered some patches and some gum, and while I was waiting on those I tried the pouches. They do work and you can get them in lower strengths to wean yourself off.

If your goal is to quit nicotine entirely, be careful that you don't just fully swap one addiction for another. I'm still working on getting off of the pouches, but it's getting better, and my lungs feel so much better now.

  • I think they're referring to the title of the lemmy post, not the one in the image

  • Hello, I live in this district. Gainesville itself as a college town is pretty solidly blue, but Ocala, High springs, and pretty much everything else around it in the district is very rural and red. We are also very close to the villages, which is where all the old people in the country go to ruin Florida for everyone else (although I think the villages is in a different district, it's still close enough to have plenty of influence).
