  • Slightly different, but single words meaning multiple conflicting things seem to come to mind more readily:

    • Drop meaning both to abandon or release a product
    • Table meaning both put something aside or putting up for discussion
    • Literally meaning both literal and figurative
  • AUD price is pretty much right at the limit of what I'd be willing to pay (150 AUD). I'll probably wait a bit though, as I'm not playing many trackpad required games at the moment.

  • Look for a watch supported by gadgetbridge and then just don't connect the watch to the internet or use the official apps. Although Garmin at least allows you to prevent sending personal data so you can still get firmware updates, which is useful because much of the functionality is on the watch itself.

  • Don't even need a driver with modern IPP supported printers, they just work. At least with basic printing needs, but probably some gaps for complex stuff.

  • They don't mention it in the description but this is mainly about kernel fixes and some associated utilities which have improved VRAM management on AMD GPUs on Linux. It's not upstreamed yet AFAICT, but that's why they used CachyOS which includes the patches and utilities out of the box.

  • There's not too much that can be done in the short term. I'd like to see an increase of the welfare rate, but that seems to be a hard sell at the moment.

Any other solutions that apply more generally will likely just make inflation worse. Longer term solutions such as electrification, a more aggressive renewable rollout, and local urea production will be more of a benefit in the long term.

You could rapidly roll out active transport measures, but it's probably not enough to make a huge dent in overall fuel demand, although it would be better than nothing.

  • I prefer to use a system with more RAM, but even many of today's systems are still using that amount (especially since the AI supply chain crisis).

I'd try chucking Linux on it first, which is generally more RAM efficient if configured correctly.

  • Hopefully forgejo will have federation released soon which will make interacting across projects easier. Although maybe that will just encourage the bots to use it, so can't win really.

  • This article from the same author is also a great read:

Marc Andreessen is a philosophical zombie

and reinforces how out of touch these people are from reality due to their lack of intellectual curiosity and the cavalcade of equally vapid sycophants that surrounds them.

  • Your body gets used to it after a while, although you may still be a bit more gassy than people who shit once a week.

  • That's unfortunate. There's some discussion on ProtonDB that may be useful for workarounds etc, but you're probably already aware of that.

  • Another option might be the LTSC version of Windows which doesn't have as much of this nonsense.

Or game on Linux instead if you game of choice isn't riddled with anti-cheat "software".

  • When you stop trying to prove to people that you're an adult.

  • Another thing I noticed recently is how many people can't even go for a walk without looking down at their phone the entire time. I get that carrying a phone is pretty essential for most people, but people used to at least keep it in their pockets. Now they are either carrying it in their hands or actively looking at.

Actually, I wonder if the size of phones now is worsening the problem because they are too big to fit in their pockets? Probably a secondary cause though I suspect.

  • Name reminds me of rockbox, which is a Linux-based firmware for digital audio players. I'm not sure if they are intentionally riffing on the name but this looks to be a similar idea but for gaming handhelds.

  • "Sense" seems to be responding to backlash in this case. They are still supporting TP's extreme right-wing anti-education propaganda, by a school of all places!

EDIT: It read like the school were organising it themselves but it seems it was by a student club? Kind of weird that such a thing exists and they can host "high-profile" people, but there might be some indication the school itself wasn't aware of it.

The relocated gathering will be restricted to members of a TPUSA-affiliated student club and a single guest apiece. School officials were careful to note that taxpayer money won't foot the bill, and the visit carries no official district stamp of approval.

  • This is for freight trucks, not the "trucks" that people drive to their suburban supermarkets.

And in the case of freight, the lack of charging infrastructure is a significant problem, but hopefully the war will drive government and private operators into action.

  • These men come to me with tears in their eyes telling me they are more straight than anyone else, maybe ever.

  • Women have a significant issue with losing muscle mass in older age, increasing the chance they will be frail and have limited mobility. Lifting weights throughout life is protective of that (and for men too, but to a lesser extent since they tend to have greater muscle mass).
