Hello. I've been silenced, removed and blocked enough on lemmy dot ml for being a filthy leftist but not a falling in line defending totalitarian states full blown authoritarian communist. Sooo I'm blocking everything from lemmy dot ml so I don't have to be bothered with any more of that nonsense. If you are on lemmy dot ml and commenting on me I will not see it. Ta ta.

  • I was thinking about pop science headlines in the nineties, maybe even earlier.

  • I think it is fair enough to have trackers on your page and I also think it is fair enough that it should remain useable for people that block trackers. Unfortunately a lot of pages are built around third party tracking and are non functional for anybody with integrity filters.

  • I didn't mean to tell you off, just giving some of my personal perspective.

  • I will never complain about my childhood again.

  • Other dogs often find my dog scary or intimidating just because of his size. He is a large sighthound so it is understandable. They are tall and slender with long body parts that don't move like other dogs. I don't think he'd hurt anyone on purpose but he can get tired of yapping and when he responds it will look very scary for both the other dog and their owner.

So I keep him close to me when we meet other dogs unless it is somebody we know or the owner asks to introduce them... Aaand they seem like a sensible owner that knows their dog well enough and listens when I explain my dogs dos and donts.

Otherwise it is not worth it for me to worry about the situation nor to be proxy socializing with somebody that I don't want to be around.

Also worth remembering is that all dogs are individuals, and so are their owners. There is no obligation for neither dog or owner to be social with anyone if they dont want to for whatever reason that is nobody else's business.

  • I enjoy the daily good walk with my dog. When he is happy I am happy. Maybe it is a chore because it must be done but I'm happy to do so even the days when it initially sucks to leave home.

  • How many times were you caught staging a fake shooting of yourself?

  • It is useable but the user interface is clunky and the developers have a mindset that settings need to be hidden from the users which is kinda weird for the target group that are home automation tweakers. A lot of the UI/UX is designed from a software developers perspective, not from the eyes of a user. It would be nice to have different third party web interfaces to choose from.

  • Spotify is not very ethical. They are the worst platform for artists for getting paid. The CEO Daniel Ek is a billionaire asshole that has called music ~"content without production cost". They were early to encourage AI slop, including that creepy ass "virtual radio host", because hey zero production cost content. They are aggressively pushing podcasts and label sponsored content to paying subscribers as covert advertisement income. They also have ancient sketchy history of having clients do peer-to-peer distribution without telling that your bandwidth is used to cut their server costs. In short, Spotify is not a company that cares about music or musicians or even their customers.

I was on Spotify from the early days of invite only until a few years ago when I had enough. I jumped to Tidal that was ok but I was never quite comfortable. They don't do podcasts but their search function is garbage and pushes selected artists ahead of your search terms. Their overall UI/UX experience is ok but not great and I must admit that here Spotify has got a lot of things right. Tidal pay artists better but I feel like they are aiming for the Spotify business model in the long run.

Now I'm on Qobuz. They are the highest tier in paying out to artists. I was surprised that I noticed a difference in their high resolution quality. While their search function doesn't push artists like the two above, it's not great and their recommendations for related artists is not good. Their catalogue is pretty good, though I miss some more obscure stuff, but I guess that's really up to the smaller labels to make themselves available. I do, however, get the feeling that they care about music more than for money and their developers give the impression to listen to the community. I'm sticking to Qobuz for now and I hope they hire some more devs to iron out the quirks.

  • Why go through the teens when you can adopt an adult with a good career already.

  • I don't want children at all, but if I did I'd be open adopt a child. I have no need to propagate my own genes because I'm not that great that the world needs more of me in particular.

  • You are mixing spatial dimensions with a temporal dimension. A 3D space does not require time. A 3D space exists in a 4D space though is "flat" in the 4th just like a 2D plane is flat in the 3rd.

  • What is a fair price?

  • Screensaver before it was cool

  • That's what you get for messing with inky boi

  • More context: Many moons ago, whenever Nordic countries were mentioned on Reddit - there would always pop up at least one Estonian trying to shoehorn themselves in and argue Estonia being a Nordic country.

It became a joke eventually with redditors from the Nordic countries.

  • Do men do this too? I thought it was an overweight girl thing.

  • Pro tip: If you are invited home to someone - do not, repeat not, be one hour early.

  • And an oversized shirt with extra large pockets, apparently.
