  • Mental illness is the broad, simple answer. I don’t know enough about her to even guess at the specifics. But, people behave irrationally, poorly, meanly when they feel insecure, unsafe. Like most conservatives, she’s probably plagued by many insecurities that make her seek out something to blame and some group in which to take refuge.

    Not trying to diagnose but, she could be bipolar and these at the symptoms of her swinging between the extremes.

  • I was recommended videos of Richard Feynman taking about physics. They turned out to be an AI generated facsimile of his voice reading talks that he actually recorded over some AI generated still images.

    Utterly fucking useless. No reason for this to exist. It adds nothing.

    I avoid YouTube as much as possible, anyway. Too much crap and gen AI is just dragging it down further.

  • Yeah, there’s a big piece of this puzzle missing.

    If it was an Apple or Google tag it would make sense. They have systems for tracking those but I imagine they must have some kind of limits.

    Anyway, this a $10 random tag from Amazon. Why would any phone report its location? I imagine it has to either be: officially recognized by Apple or Google; spoofing Apple or Google ids; or being picked up by some third-party app.

    No article I’ve see has explained how it was tracked.

  • I, naively, thought the first Trump win was the last gasp of these people. Like, Obama’s election was the writing on the wall that the USA was moving on and the creeps woke up pulled out a win because decent people were contentedly lazy having achieved some progress.

    Now, it seems more like a shingles flare up that can’t be controlled. The dormant fear/hate virus has emerged from the national nervous system but the defenses against it have atrophied.

    Turns out that some mind flayers or other psionic beast have been producing and distributing a concoction made from their own milk/extract.

  • I’m no expert, mind you. This year I did a coir/vermiculite/perlite blend for starting tomatoes. They sprouted fine but stalled—no true leaves for a couple weeks. After adding some fertilizer tea they’re growing again. Still not sure if they’re worth keeping but I’ll give them a shot.

    Next time, I’ll try the starting blend with some soil added in. They just don’t get enough nutrition from just the starting mix.
