  • I think it's worth pointing out that much of the US Democrat party has been assisting with the fascist takeover. There are some outspoken individuals that are still holding out, being outspoken and trying to fight it, but so many of the GOP's bullshit bills have been pushed through with either Democrat silence or even outright capitulation. Outside of a few outspoken Democratic governors, there really is no party leadership or even a sense of direction at all.

The US is nearly a single-party country at this point.

  • This. Generations of American exceptionalism has been baked into nearly every facet their being, culture, politics, and ways of life - piggybacking straight off a century of British imperial exceptionalism.

The US will need to fall and fall hard before they even begin to start thinking about changing their ways and even then it's not guaranteed.

  • There are so many options for fridges that don't have any tech in them at all. This is so easy to avoid.

  • Their emotional support Kirk.

  • What the fuck

  • The knife I based this render off of looks similar in terms of weathering. In fact, the plastic on the IRL box cutter is even slightly cleaner than my rendered version. I appreciate the feedback though!

  • Thank you!

  • Thanks for the feedback! Indeed, the bevelling was probably one of the biggest pains in the arse about this project. There was an earlier version I had to scrap entirely because I just couldn't get it to work how I wanted.

  • Thanks for the feedback! The model and textures are based off a real one I have here at home, so the real one has simliar-ish reflections as well.

  • Thanks! :D

  • Thank you!

  • Thank you! It's all done with layers. There is a base yellow layer and on top of it are layers for various sizes of scratches, grunge, dirt, and so on. Each has their own roughness and colour values.

The plastic also has a small amount of subsurface scattering to give it a bit of visual depth, making it look more like real plastic.

  • thank you :D

  • Thank you!

  • Yeah but if people can't do 60 in a 30 school-zone then they won't get the next red light 15 seconds faster.

  • "political tensions" is a great way to downplay the fact that people don't want to risk being shoved into a gestapo torture facility for 1-3 months while trying to enter the US because they said Trump was a poopoo head 4 years ago on Twitter.

  • I use Win11 on my main computer for work and school reasons. I need maximum compatibility and reliability and it has met those goals. Back in the day, I used to use Linux on my old laptops and I dual-booted it on my main PC. It has been awesome seeing how far it has come and I would like to get back into it some day.

That being said, a huge barrier for Linux and prospective new users is the community. The Linux community is highly combative and toxic and it absolutely sours what should (and could!) be a great experience. Almost every interaction I had while troubleshooting had some level of condescending attitude or outright hostility and there were numerous times I was directly insulted for asking for help - the most recent being a couple years ago when I was trying out a distro and had sound driver issues.

  • More like certainly. It is hard to have a relationship with (or even exist alongside) someone who is constantly dragging you down.

  • It’s been a hot topic over the years just how screwed Vancouver would be in the event of a disaster. The amount of ways out of the Lower Mainland can be counted on one hand.
