It's good to have loads of empathy. But it's extremely important to talk with the counterparty about who's responsible for fixing what things - I often see empathetic people taking wayyy too much responsibility where they instead should spend the energy on aligning expectations
To anyone not Danish reading this, the Danish word for diarrhea is diarré, but this expression (på Lars tyndskids mark) utilizes another word - tyndskid, literally translated as "thin shit".
But unfortunately I think diarrhea is the English word that comes closest, but still doesn't capture the magnificent imagery of tyndskid
My guess is it's a variation of your second bullet point: trip wants to keep operating in China due to future earning potential, so it's important for them to stay friendly with the Chinese government.
