  • I’m glad money is of no concern for you but one device costs twice as much as the other :)

  • LLMs can’t deal with highly reflective languages at the moment. In English or Chinese you can assign tokens to entire words without having to account for word morphology (which is also why models fail at counting letters in words) but it falls apart quickly in Polish or Russian. The way models like ChatGPT work now is that they do their „reasoning” in English first and translate back to the query language at the end.

  • Market maker is a regulatory designation where a financial institution has to provide liquidity, which sometimes means taking on trades you wouldn’t otherwise. It’s not as glamorous as it sounds, especially in FX markets where profit margins have been nanometer-thin for ages.

  • Suggestion: in case of breaking API changes maintain old endpoints for a bit? This caught me off guard as a Voyager user this morning because versioning suggests that Piefed is stable (1.x) and that this was a minor release (x.0 -> x.2), yet it broke down completely.

  • I read Feddit.nu rules and couldn’t understand a word but we have credible intel that it’s just a cover for developing weapons of mass surströmming.

  • Nayara Energy Limited is an entity established in India and operating an important refinery in Vadinar. That refinery is 49% owned by the Russian State oil company Rosneft, and is a major refiner of Russian crude oil. The energy sector, in particular the oil sector, is a sector providing substantial revenue to the Russian Government.

Therefore, Nayara Energy is involved in an economic sector providing a substantial source of revenue to the Government of the Russian Federation, which is responsible for the annexation of Crimea and the destabilisation of Ukraine.

Microsoft doing the right thing here. If you don’t want to worry about consequences of sanctions don’t use services from companies subject to jurisdiction of countries that sanction you.

Sopuli.xyz, DEFCON 1 is now in effect.

    Now, en garde, Feddit.nu.

  • Study recognises very strong correlation between poor family relations and poor mental health outcomes but doesn’t really attempt to separate it from smart device ownership. I’d be interested in seeing difference in outcome for a group affected by other potential causes and smart device ownership before jumping to conclusions like in the title of the post.

  • for using the functions of the website

This talking point is a huge red flag of a shit stirrer. Please provide an example of a mod action taken against anything other than using functions of the website.

  • There is no causal link shown, just correlation. It could be absent parents who use gadgets to occupy their children that are causing this as well.

  • This seems be to be an ad for a book?

  • Saudi Arabia has plenty of soft and hard power too. Possibly more so than UK. I think we’re getting overly dramatic. UK doesn’t have enough pull to start extraditing thousands of people for not complying with their weirdo laws.

  • No idea but in Europe copyright law doesn’t seem to be enforced as much against little guys but taxman will come for everyone. That YouTuber seems to be a grifter, collecting money for his defense while also making money off a Telegram shop. He knew he could make things up and people (and „journalists”!) would fall for it because Nintendo bad.

  • How would that even work in another country? Wouldn’t Saudi Arabia pressure hosts for breaking blasphemy laws?

  • I’m confused, why are non-UK instances banning UK users? Are their admins located in the UK? Is anyone afraid of being extradited to UK because of their local laws? Do you block Saudi Arabia too because you can’t guarantee blasphemy laws are going to be upholded?
