Because we don't just blanket support taxes either. What kinda tax? A sales tax? An estate tax? Income tax?
Communists should avoid promoting taxation that would disproportionately burden the working class.
Edit: Seems like we all are on the same page, maybe I could have framed my original comment better. I realize the memes purpose was to highlight the issue of surplus value extraction which absolutely should be peoples #1 priority, I just get a bit tense when people get too excited for taxes. There's a right and a wrong way to do it and beating libs over the head with "lol taxes are good actually" isn't (in my experience) an effective slogan. Usually better to focus on progressive taxation. Things like capital gains tax. Or straight from the communist manifesto "A heavy progressive or graduated income tax". Promoting sales tax? Bad actually!
So, the law as written quoted in the original post, atleast to me and I'm not a lawyer or anything, doesn't seem to imply that it would actually be illegal. Police might still charge you (because they're scumbags), but I'm willing to bet its something that a judge would throw out.
I'm gonna be the odd one out here and say that route is hardly unwalkable, and with some minor changes could even be somewhat safe compared to the walk I make to work everyday. I went down the entire route road by road in street view, you'll be hugging the shoulder in spots, walking in grass and cutting across the road a few times, but you can manage it.
While I understand how you feel, you gotta think about how news gets reported.
Republicans aren't so far off when they talk about the "liberal news media". The news reports democrats failings significantly less, or frames it using more neutral language than how republicans are reported.
During bidens presidency I literally never heard anything about deportations, yet he did deport a significant amount of people. More than the amount we've seen from trump (so far).
No matter the justifications, the tone, or the methods, deportations still happened, and currently more of them happened under both Biden and Obama than with Trump. People most certainly were hurt and/or killed in that process too.
You said no ubuntu so here's some debian distros ;) MX linux, Sparkylinux, LMDE, Q4OS
No seriously though, all of those have their fans and in my opinion deserve a look. MX linux has one of the better xfce setups out of the box imo, sparky has lots of cool DE packages, LMDE is mint but better-nt, and Q4OS is one of the few distros that includes an out of the box trinity setup.
You won't get what you're asking for, because what you want is windows to not suck, not for Linux to have GUI. Me too tbf.
I started playing around with linux back in the Ubuntu 11.04 days. I was a tween with computers as a hobby and linux repeatedly humbled me and left me troubleshooting for hours. I had fun playing with it but I stayed with Windows on my main PC.
When I finally could not take it anymore in 2021, I started using fedora, which I grew to hate then moved to opensuse, which I grew to hate so I moved to Debian, and I've more or less stayed struggling in the Debian sphere since.
I'm a regular person, I don't code. I can't even hello world in python without help. I just need my laptop to be able to serve me the slop that I crave. If you're that person too, you're just gonna have to suck it up and learn how linux works. Suffer through it. You've been using windows probably since you were eating boogers, don't expect to just pickup linux over night. I moved to linux for political reasons, and I suspect you're doing so for similar reasons. It doesn't get easier, you just get better at using Linux.
If you want my suggestion, pick something based on an LTS distro. I like Debian, but I'm sure there is good stuff based on RHEL, SUSE, whatever. People will sit here and tell you how "out of date" Debian is. You're coming from windows, you probably regularly use software that nobody has maintained since 2009, you don't care if bonzibuddy.exe got an AI update, you just want to turn computer on, watch youtube, play vidya game. Don't let user johnthunderfuck69 in r/linux tell you his arch install has never broken in 20 years of using it. He is built different and you are not johnthunderfuck69.
I've had good luck with some of the gui tools included in MX Linux, SparkyLinux, and LMDE(mint debian edition). If you look hard enough between those 3 you'll probably find a big red button that you can click to order pizza to your house.
Choose Cinnamon, XFCE, or KDE as a desktop environment.
You can make criticisms of both. Just actually talk from a place of knowing what you are talking about when you do it.
While I'm not a leftcom, Bordiga is probably one of the more solid critics of Stalin. I disagree with Bordiga's criticism, but I can track and understand where he was coming from because he very clearly actually did the reading.
What I don't always respond kindly to, is someone going "14 kajillion dead, worse than hitler, authoritarian".
Libs politics are in support of capitalism. Put another way, those politics stand in the way of working class liberation. There isn't a compromise here, we have to drive out all the pro-capitalist notions in the minds of the working class.
Is this meme the propaganda for achieving that? Maybe not. But the sentiment that liberal politics are right wing is correct and you won't find a single socialist worth their salt who disagrees with that.
We will organize among working class people with backwards ideas and a lack of understanding at times, but we NEVER promote or work with liberal politicians or parties.
Yes but that also defeats the purpose. People will notice it too quickly and just block the comm. It needs to be something that requires constant vigilance.
I think these posts are a wake up call. We all learned in school how to evaluate a source of information, yet we've gotten used to just accepting whatever we see online without any proof at all. In the grand scheme of things the fake news being spread is harmless, and if it teaches people to be more alert I say make a bunch more articles.
Good thing I'm a communist then.
