🍀Help me help you is my motto💖

As one of Fedecan's volunteer admin team, I'm here to make this place a cool and comfortable to hang out for our trustworthy Fediverse users.🤗

While I can't promise that I won't make the occasional mistake here or two I'll always try my best to avoid repeating them and adhere to the best ethical standards that exists!🙌🌻

Alt Accs:

If you'd like to see more extensively detailed posts and system analysis deep dives please consider donating or buying me a coffee🤗

  • Jon Seager as the VP of Engineering at Canonical

Seager explained in this morning's update while there won't be a "global kill switch" for AI features on Ubuntu, their plan is to deliver all the AI features via Snap packages. So removing AI features on Ubuntu will come down to removing Snaps.

    lmao

At this point if snaps are being installed on your system you might want to have a talk with the admin/IT guy, unless you are the admin in which case you do you🤷‍♀️. Carry on good sir/lady/person.

The AI bros on the other hand are probably drooling all over this as AI and Ubuntu basically goes hand in hand.

  • Due to a hasty mistake without evidence on my admin action alone not involving any of the other admins, I unfortunately banned Deceptichum@quokk.au which I have now reverted. Discussing with the admin team I have proposed steps to ensure that I don't repeat this dumb mistake again.

I will be creating steps such that checks with the admin team will occur before ban actions happen.

On the topic of the connection to the lemmy.world admin action, that honestly was purely coincidental. Being too busy IRL; after I gave the team heads up on the wild situation with:

    zionism, genocide apologia

I moved on without realizing problems were brewing so again that's on me. None of the rest of the admin teams have anything to do with this.

  • Hey @KairuByte@lemmy.dbzer0.com I'd personally like to request this post be stickied/pinned for a month as this hearing by the European Parliment is likely to have cascading effects for gamers both in Canada and worldwide.

As such I personally believe that this post should be pinned so that gamers here on the fediverse have a fair chance to be informed and learn about what impacts this may have when it comes to the ownership of their games and digital goods.

  • Just curious but what differentiates this from Librewolf?

Looking at the releases it looks like Konform might be a mix of a Librewolf and Firefox fork

Currently I don't see strong reasons to use this over Librewolf as it's a much younger forked project but I could be convinced otherwise.

  • I mean if it's though the window that's fine.

  • He's being tried as an adult because he raped and killed his stepsister.

  • Requesting to put the murderer and sexual assulter's name Timothy Hudson in the headline.

    Current post title:

Florida teenager charged with sexually assaulting and killing stepsister Anna Kepner on cruise ship

I don't see why the victim's name gets publicized while the asshole gets a freepass in their actions.

In some cases where terrorists want publicity for their actions publicizing their name is actually the wrong decision. Here I believe it is the opposite.

The public should know who this guy is so that Timothy Hudson can never escape from their consequences. Plus it protects citizens in the off-hand chance this guy escapes or is released from prison.

  • Well...just in case here are some alternatives cause I certainly can't predict what will come of this decision.

    Alternatives

I'm genuinely really tired of AI being shoved into everything.

At this point if anyone wants whatever AI/LLMs provide, you do you; I'm not gonna stop you.

I'm just gonna move on and continue to adapt cause it really seems like it'll be shoved into anything, (especially things closest to proprietary products/services); without rhyme or reason until morale improves or the bubble collapses.

  • With this I'm hoping that even just a fraction of our MPs look at this and for a second, consider passing some legislation that'll incentivize Canadians to also buy ebikes and ecargo bikes.

Less cars on the road = happier commuters, hopefully better people friendly infrastructure (especially for cyclists), healthier people, air and cities.

I'm hoping but at the same time I don't expect this to become a reality anytime soon unfortunately.
